Metric Modulations: 3 over 2 - Quaver Triplet Preparation

These preparatory exercises will help you to play lines over a section of music having an implied 3 over 2 metric modulation.
ie when the rhythm section go into a 3 over 2 modulation you can play triplet lines with the appropriate articulation.
This ends up sounding like you're playing swing quavers in the new / implied (faster) tempo.
The effect is even stronger if you play triplet lines that have clear groups of four notes as in much bebop playing.

Of course you can also initiate a metric modulation yourself by playing a line like this and whether or not the rhythm section
go with you it will still sound like you're playing at a faster tempo

Now experiment with articulation which implies swing. The 2nd and 4th ones below work best, but it's worth practising the others for flexibility.

Go through the same process with an obvious 4-note pattern
