Event decoration
The most basic photographer backdrop is the seamless paper. Normally found in
53-140” rolls in a variety of colors, this basic easy backdrop costs about $20-30
per roll. Choice of colors is very individual and specific to the application. A portrait
photographer is likely to want colors to set off the skin tones: white, grays and
black are useful. For product photography, a color in contrast to the product is
best.
Muslin Backgrounds
Muslins can easily be folded and brought with you to various locations. They have minute
wrinkles naturally, any prominent fold lines or wrinkles can easily be steamed out. Do not Iron
your muslin, ironing it may ruin your muslin and your iron.
All muslins are painted to be hung at approximately 10' (3 meters) . Most muslins are machine
washable in cold water on a gentle cycle. It is easier sometimes to simply clean the Muslin
using a damp cloth. Typically darker colors tend to fade slightly.
Canvas comes rolled in a tube the length of the backdrop. (i.e.
a 10'X20' canvas will come rolled in a 10' tube. A 6'X8' canvas
will come rolled in a 6' tube.) Before muslins, there were
canvases
All styles are printed or hand-painted on a poly/canvas. canvas
backgrounds do need a suspension system. A motorized
backdrop stand is the usual means, but there are background
rollers that mount to the ceilings of larger studios
