USES: This medication is used to relieve bladder or intestinal spasms.
HOW TO USE: Take as directed. The usual maximum number of tablets per
day is 6. Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water. Take at least one hour
before antacids or certain anti-diarrhea drugs (e.g., kaolin-pectin type).
SIDE EFFECTS: Constipation, dry mouth, trouble urinating, or nausea could
occur. If these continue or are bothersome, notify your doctor promptly. Very
unlikely but report: rash, itching, swelling of the hands or feet, trouble
breathing, increased pulse, dizziness, diarrhea, vision problems, eye pain. If
you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of:
glaucoma or other eye problems, heart disease, enlarged prostate (males),
allergies, stomach or intestinal diseases. This medication should be used only
when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with
your doctor. It is not known whether this drug is excreted into human milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Caution is advised when this drug
is used in the elderly.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription or
prescription medication you use, especially of: antidepressants (tricyclic type),
MAO Inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, linezolid, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid,
selegiline, furazolidone), quinidine, amantadine, antihistamines (e.g.,
diphenhydramine), anticholinergics, potassium chloride supplements,
antacids, absorbent-type antidiarrhea medicines (e.g., kaolin-pectin). Do not
start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control
center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national
poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local
poison control center directly. Symptoms of overdose may include unusually
dry mouth; excessive thirst; nausea; vomiting; difficulty breathing; blurred
vision; dilated pupils; flushed, hot, dry skin; muscle weakness; unusual
dizziness or drowsiness; restlessness; disorientation; and seizures.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is
near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual
dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Imidapril-hydrochlorothiazide tablet is indicated for the treatment of
hypertension.
dosage
Initial Dose: 1 tablet once daily
This preparation is not intended as first-line therapy. It should be initiated in
hypertensive patients whose blood pressure is not controlled (>140/90 mmHg)
with single-dose antihypertensive treatment.
Adjust dosage based on clinical response.
contraindications
Imidapril-hydrochlorothiazide tablet is contraindicated in patients with the
following:
Known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the product
History of angioneurotic edema
Sulfonamide hypersensitivity or thiazide diuretic hypersensitivity because of
the risk of cross-sensitivity
Renal failure and anuria since thiazide diuretics are considered ineffective
when the creatinine clearance is less than 30 mL/minute.
Precaution
Use with caution in patients with the following conditions:
Sodium depletion or hypovolemia, and those undergoing dialysis, major
surgery or during anesthesia since severe hypotension may occur.
Renal disease, especially among elderly patients; Increased age and impaired
renal function may decrease the urinary excretion of imidapril and its
metabolites. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) may also decrease the glomerular
filtration rate and may precipitate azotemia in these patients.
Unilateral or bilateral artery stenosis since increase in blood urea nitrogen and
serum creatinine may occur.
Renal dysfunction that is critically dependent on the activity of the renin-
angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAS) (e.g., patients with heart failure) since
angiotensin-II receptor antagonists affect the RAS system and have caused
increases in serum creatinine and renal failure in susceptible individuals.
Hepatic disease since minor alterations of fluid and electrolyte balance may
precipitate hepatic coma.
Gout or hyperuricemia since thiazide diuretics such as HCTZ have been
reported to reduce the clearance of uric acid.
History of pancreatitis since thiazide diuretics have been reported to cause
pancreatitis.
