Period Seven

            Throughout American history, pirates have roamed the Seas looking

for boats to attack. America a new country with a new constitution needed

protection from these pirates and other harms around them.  With the need

for protection the Navy was created and the Americans faced their problems

with the Barbary Pirates. How did these improvements of our country help

out the people in the ships dealing with the pirates? With the help of the

Navy or country today is protected from the many harms that lurk their way.

            America, the new country, began trade with difference country that

was connected to the Mediterranean Sea. When sailing through the waters,

the pirates would take captive the boat and people, make them slaves and

force them to pay tribute or consequences would occur.  Many times when

the Americas would go through the sea, the pirates would continue to take

captive the people and have them do what they wanted them to do. This

became a major problem to the people of the United States. Would it be war
or tribute in the future?

In the beginning, America became a new country with

independence. The government formed wasn’t working so they made the

constitution to help control the country. Although the country had

independence and a government they needed protection out in the open

waters. Since the Americans were used to the British Navy they decided

with this country to make a navy of their own. Taking regular men, British

men, and others they boarded them began training to now be know as the

largest navy in the world.

            Still today, our country remains to be protected by the U.S

navy and there are no more threats by the Barbary Pirates or anybody at all. 

We continue to have safe sails out in sea. If it weren’t for the new country or

even the creation of the Constitution, we would not be under protection of

the Navy and could still be facing many dangerous problems out in the deep

blue sea. Not only did the Americans make a strong protection shield or

even a better government they also created the biggest and most efficient

navy in the world.
