2) Verify which disk holds the current running AIX (hdisk1 in my case) and which will hold the clone (hdisk0 in my
case):

# lspv
hdisk0 000b3a3de79af4d1 None
hdisk1 0002404a5a02dd05 rootvg active
3) Verify your current settings:

# lsvg -l rootvg
rootvg:

POINT
hd5 boot 1 1 1 closed/syncd N/A
hd6 paging 32 32 1 open/syncd N/A

# alt_disk_install -C hdisk0

5) Run some post cloning checks:

# lsvg
altinst_rootvg
rootvg

# lsvg -l altinst_rootvg
0516-010 : Volume group must be varied on; use varyonvg command.

# lspv
hdisk0 000b3a3de79af4d1 altinst_rootvg
hdisk1 0002404a5a02dd05 rootvg active

6) Ensure you will boot to clone disk:

# bootlist -m normal -o
hdisk0

7) Reboot:

# shutdown -Fr

8) Remove the old_rootvg volume group definition from the ODM database:

# alt_disk_install -X old_rootvg

9) Some more verifications:

# lspv
