CANNIBALISM IN MODERN WORLD

I. Cannibalism, also called anthropophagy, is eating of human flesh.

II. Cannibalism cases varied from different reasons and angles of people who

were able to practice such act.

A. Cannibalism is commonly practiced by different tribes as form of custom

and tradition and cannibalistic social behavior can be classified into two:

endocannibalism and exocannibalism.

1. Exocannibalism is defined as a culture, group or tribe's

consumption of another culture, group or tribe.

2. Conversely, the consumption of members within one's own

culture, group or tribe is called endocannibalism, which is often

associated with ritual burial ceremonies and has been

controversially referred to on occasion as "compassionate

cannibalism."

3. Another case of cannibalism among tribes is human sacrifice,

sacrificing a member of tribe to please their gods or goddesses.
