SUR 203 – Site Surveying Assignment

1. INTRODUCTION

This assignment designed to train and equipped the course members on the basic
understanding and knowledge of Global Information System (GIS). Students are exposed to
the application of the GIS during construction or development process. In that notes, student
will gain experience on collecting data and information through out the process of preparing
the report.

At the end of this assignment, students will be able to understand the important of GPS in site
surveying.

2. ASSIGNMENT QUESTION (10%)

You are required to searched about Global Imformation System (GIS). Then, explain and
describe the significant of GIS. include your explaination with the difference between GIS
and maps, its application in QS/CM, and the procedure to use.For any suggestion, it must be
supported by relevant explanation, such as the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed
layout plan. You also must include all relevant diagrams and pictures in your explanation.

3. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Format
i. The content shall be as follows;
• Table of Content
• Introduction
•Content ( explanation)
• Conclusions
• Reference list (Harvard Referencing System)
• Appendix (if any)
ii. The font type should be in ‘Times New Roman’ with font size ‘12’ and 1.5 spacing.
iii. To ensure the validity and high degree of original works, student must include the list
of reference including internet sources etc. (min 3 books)
iv. Any plagiarism is not allowed and will be penalized.
