administrator, Under what conditions would you prefer either of two. State reasons and
justifications also.

Q2 Under what conditions will you prefer Different types of Zoning? Formulate some of the
benefits of using Soft Zoning , Hard Zoning and mixed Zoning.

The ability of all connected devices to communicate with each other makes switched fabrics very
powerful. Their complexity, however, makes it necessary to partition fabrics into subsets of
connected logical devices through zoning. Simple when the system get very complex due to more
scalability of the business then zoning is preferred to manage the system.

Hard Zoning & Benefit

Hard zoning is zoning which is implemented in hardware. Soft zoning is zoning which is
implemented in software. Hard zoning physically blocks access to a zone from any device outside
of the zone.

Soft Zoning & Benefit

Soft zoning uses filtering implemented in fibre channel switches to prevent ports from being seen
from outside of their assigned zones. The security vulnerability in soft zoning is that the ports are
still accessible if the user in another zone correctly guesses the fibre channel address.

Mixed Zoning & Benefit

The integration of Hard & Soft zones derives a new type of zoning technique which is known as
mixed zoning. This derives security and application driven functions from both and build a better
system where these two lacks.
Q3 Being a Storage Administrator, how will you suggest your company that they should go
for either NAS or SAN. How will you list the considerations for capacity design for Storage
in a NAS environment?

the features of NFS and CIFS.
