Hero’s Problem:
 A terrible curse has befallen
Thebes.
Hero’s response to the problem:
 Oedipus sends his brother-in-law,
Creon, to seek the advice of
Apollo.
 Oedipus commits himself to the
discovery and prosecution of
Laius’s murderer.
 Oedipus subjects reluctant
citizens to questioning, including
a blind prophet named Teiresias.
 Oedipus questions a messenger
and a shepherd, both tell him he
was abandoned as an infant and
adopted by a new family.
Outcome of the reponse:
 Jocasta realizes that she is
Oedipus’s mother and that Laius
was his father, she kills herself.
 Oedipus, too, realizes that he
was Laius’s murder and that he’s
been married to (and having
children with) his mother. In
horror and despair, he gouges his
eyes out and is exiled from
Thebes.
 ‘hukom’ were provoked to
Paglilitis ni Mang Serapio
Hero’s Traits:
 Serapio is family oriented
because he gives utmost
importance to his late daughter
and wife. To keep the memory of
his daughter, he kept on doing his
daughter when Sol was still alive,
punishments.
 Serapio is skeptic. When he was
questioned the accusers of what
sin and why he was liable for it.
Hero’s Circumstances:
 He was poor
 He had a wife, but then she died
giving birth to Sol.
 Sol was her daughter but then
she died as well.
 She had a chest where he had a
doll, pretending that it was her
daughter Sol.
Hero’s Problem:
 He was being accused of having
a child which was against the law
of the federation
 He had to keep the people from
knowing his secret in the chest.
Hero’s response to the problem:
 He tried to prove that he has no
child anymore because his
daughter already died, by saying
that the witnesses were all lying
against him.
 He tried to lie that there was
nothing important in the chest.
Outcome of the response:
 The ‘tagapagtanong’ and the
question the witnesses’
credibility, but then they opened
the chest and found a way to
prove that Serapio was spending
money for something else.
Eventually, he was punished for
what he has done.
