◦ Add “–er” : big – bigger
◦ Add than : bigger than
 Example: A starfish is bigger than a prawn.
 If a word ends with “y”, we have to change
the word to “-ier”. ( when you compare)
◦ Add “-ier” : heavy – heavier
◦ Add than : heavier than
 Example : A whale is heavier than a dolphin.
 An angelfish is

prettier (pretty)

than a toadfish.
 An octopus swims

slower (slow)than

a tuna.
A whale is

bigger (big)

than a starfish.
A shark is

heavier (heavy)

than a flatfish.
A sailfish is

faster (fast)

than a prawn.
A squid is

smaller (small)
