On Friday, 11 March 2011 at


2:46pm local (12:46am ET), a
massive 9.0 magnitude
earthquake struck about 100
miles east of the city of Sendai
on Japan’s main island,
Honshu. The earthquake lasted
approximately 3 minutes long.
The quake generated a tsunami, between 23 and 32 feet,
that swept boats, cars, buildings and debris miles inland.
The Tsunami arrived just minutes after the main quake had
ended.
