Who is exploiting Whom: Human or Environment?

H uman has been permitted to utilize everything on this earth considering some limitations
too e.g. We utilize land for food and residence; we utilize wood for fire, boats and for the
construction of houses; we use mountains for shelter in the form of caves. So, since day one
human has utilized environment for sustainability and survival but when it comes to exploitation
that refers to the destruction or misuse, bearing in mind the question that either Human is
exploiting the Environment or Environment is exploiting the Human, I think human is exploiting
environment more than the environment exploiting human. We all remember both the world
wars and who can forget the destruction: Was that environment’s fault? No. it was Human who
put his survival at risk. Newton’s First Law of Motion says; “Every action has an equal and
opposite reaction”. For instance human started cutting trees (Deforestation- An action) and we all
witnessed the enormous flood last year (A reaction). A research shows that the intensity of a
flood can be reduced through plantation and forestation. If flood covers a distance in 5 days on a
plain surface but if in a forest it would take 72 days to cover the same distance. Al that I have
discussed is not only the action-reaction phenomena but in reality things also works with cause
and effect. There can be many causes for an effect or there are more effects of a single cause.
Now the causes of the flood last year can be many, such that war on terror and bombing in the
northern areas caused the ice bergs to melt and formed a flood, Global warming can be a cause.
In fact there a balance between environment and human that helps each other to survive. Let’s a
man can eat two/three breads in his meal which is normal behavior but if he breaks the natural
phenomena and eat eight or ten breads, then he will face the consequences of disturbing the
balance of nature. Same is the case with Human and Environment but I think human is born with
the instincts to break laws so, most of the time human challenges the authority of nature and
exploit environment more than the environment exploit human.
