largely be attributed to Egypt and Jordan, where volumes were up 571% and 105%, respectively.

Egypt’s demand was mainly for carcase, forequarter, leg and manufacturing cuts, but increased

manufacturing, topside and thick flank/knuckle, with a large portion of these cuts re-exported to
both Iraq and Syria.

For the eight months, shipments to Qatar rose 35% to 1,279 tonnes. An absence of suitable
sheepmeat due predominantly to supply has help drive the resultant growth in beef demand.
Volumes to Kuwait grew by 31% to 1,109 tonnes over the period; however, much of this was
reportedly re-exported to Iraq via the Kuwaiti Free Zone.

Saudi Arabian demand for manufacturing and topside/inside in particular drove volumes up by
27% to 1,809 tonnes, partly due to exchange rate shifts increasing the competitiveness of
Australian beef compared to Brazilian product.

Beef volume to the Middle East was up 66% year-on-year from 1,365 tonnes cwt to 2,270 tonnes.
