(a) Compare TWO (2) operation modes of instrument based on its operation type and clarify their differences.

(b) A rain gauge is an instrument used to measure rainfall. This is a sharp-edged cylinder, which deposits its accumulated rainfall into a container underneath. In the month of November 2010, rainfall was measured in weather stations in Northern region of Malaysia. The results were tabulated in the following table 1.1.

(a) Differentiate two types of transducers and give ONE (1) example each. [Bezakan dua jenis penderia dan berikan SATU (1) contoh setiap satu]

(b) There is a need to monitor water level at Timah Tasoh Dam in order to help Perlis Authority to make decision when to release the water to ensure that no catastrophic flood reoccur. Illustrate the concept of monitoring by using diagram and flowchart and explain each step. Emphasize on the selection of transducers. Justify your selection.
