Strategic Planning of English Language 2010 – 2015

Introduction

The strategic planning of English Language was designed with the


purpose of achieving excellence in UPSR. The implementation was divided into 2
forms, the short term strategies and the long term strategies. It is through the
commitment of the administrators, teachers, parents and students that this
planning can reach optimal success and prove its effectiveness. It is also the
hope of the school that the students’ achievement in English language can be
continuously upgraded in terms of quality and quantity.

Aim

The aim of the strategic curriculum planning is to enable the students to


achieve grade A and minimum grade C in UPSR. It is also proposed to enhance
proficiency among ESL students.

Objective

The planning of English Language was designed with the purpose of


achieving excellence in UPSR. The main objectives of the strategic curriculum
planning coincide with the objectives of the revised curriculum. Among the
objectives are, students should be able to
 have good language skills
 Learn accurate grammar
 Learn reading skills through appropriate approach
 Learn writing skills effectively
 get involve in social interaction through conversation, discussion
and writing activities
 receive and process information critically from various sources
 respond to various reading sources and literature
 practise good moral values, positive attitude, patriotism and love
towards the country.

The Strength

1) The English Language Panel of SKB has qualified and dedicated teachers
to teach the subject.
2) In-House Training is often carried out by the teachers to disseminate the
latest information from courses that they have attended
3) Teachers are being sent for courses to upgrade their professionalism
4) Teachers use various techniques including IT in classroom.
5) The BESTARI teaching gives the opportunity for the teachers to expose
the students to the latest techniques in teaching language.

The Weaknesses

1) Students with low English proficiency- coming from rural area.


2) Students paying less attention in class - not really interested in learning
English
3) Student not doing their assignments as required.
