Madaris in Singapore come

under the Education Act.
The control of Muslim
Religious Schools is vested
in the MUIS.

Madaris in Brunei are already merged

with the national education system. It is
stated in the national education policy
that Islamic Religious education will be
provided through the school curriculum.

During the 2002-2003 school year, the

Philippines began to implement a program
called Education for Peace and Progress in
Mindanao. One of its goals is to integrate the
country’s 1,569 Madaris into the country's
national education system.

Indonesia's 38,500 Madaris provide

schooling to 13% of all students, more
than half of which are children of
farmers and laborers and over half are
girls

Philippine president Arroyo

in 2003 called for the
writing of a regional
