If you still on INITIAL status, they will provide you with an 1800 number so that you can call and have further information. IMP is not responsible for issuing the OPT card but to send it to the student when it arrives. Can I take elective classes and still maintaining my status? YES, but your advisor has to approve it and you have to follow: (12 credits for undergrad / 9 credits for graduate/ 6 credits for Doctoral students)

I want to apply for OPT. When and how is
it? You have to apply for OPT 3 months before your graduation date. Gather the following documents: • $380 money order payable to USCIS (you can get the money order in any gas station or Publix) • Two photos (passaport size) • Letter from academic advisor with your name, department, major and anticipated date of program completion • Copy of your recent I-94 Second step: schedule an appoint with IMP and bring all these documents with you.
