Instructions :

1. You a required to carry out a group work to do a folio of the structure of flower.
2. The activities in this project are divided into two levels. Level 1 is field work
and Level 2 is writing the folio.
3. A plan of action for the activity is proposed below

4. Examine the two types of flowers to identify the following structures


(a) Petal
(b) Sepal
(c) The male part of the flower, the stamen (consists of the filament & anther )
(d) The female part of the flower, the pistil ( consists of the stigma , style,
ovary & ovule )
5. Cut a cross-section of both flowers
6. Place the cut flowers in your folio. Tape it with the cellophane tape and label it.
7. Your folio must have the following aspects :
(a) Title
(b) Introduction
(c) Objective of the folio
(d) Observations
(e) Discussion
(f) Conclusion
(g) Reference sources
8. You are given two weeks to complete the folio

Discussion should contain ;


a. Part of flower and its function ( do in table )
b. Question 1 : What is the function of a flower for a plant?
Question 2 : Where is the male gamete and female gamete found in a flower?
Question 3 : Why is the surface of the insect-pollinated flower’s stigma sticky?
Question 4 : What structure that help the wind-pollinated flower’s stigma able to
catch the pollen grains?
Question 5 : What is the function of nectary found at the base of the ovary?
