Site Structure Questions

Context and Structure

• What contextual cues does the site provide that help users understand the
structure and organization of the site?

• How useful are the site’s navigation labels in suggesting how content is
outlined or organized?

• Are site maps or indices provided that help users understand the structure
of the site?

• Is specific content placed too deeply in the structure from the home page?

Completeness and Structure

• Does the site structure seem apparent from the navigation tools, headers
and other repeated elements used in the top two levels of the site?

• Are site maps, indices, headers, or redundant navigation used consistently

to help users identify the site’s structure and major content areas?

• Do help pages merely assist users in finding content, or do they also aid
users in understanding the organization of content in the site?

• Does the site use consistent labels for major content areas, pages or
sections of the site?
