34th Annual PHAVISMINDA Conference on
Philosophy
27 - 29 May 2011, University of San Agustin, Ilo-ilo City , Philippines

The Philosophical Association of the Visayas and Mindanao (PHAVISMINDA)

organizes its 34th Annual Conference on Philosophy, 27th – 29th May 2011 to be hosted
by the University of San Agustin, Ilo-ilo City, Philippines.

The registration fee is Php 5,500.00, covering access to all sessions, 7 meals, 4 coffee
breaks, lodging, membership fee, 2011 issue of the PHAVISMINDA Journal and
conference material. A number of educational and cultural activities are organized such
as a half-day tour to archaeological and historical sites in Ilo-ilo City and nearby areas.

The aim of the PHAVISMINDA conference is to bring together scholars and students of
philosophy to participate and present papers. The theme of the conference is “Philosophy
of the Human Person and the New Media”. However, papers related to history of
philosophy, systematic philosophy, applied philosophy, existentialism,
phenomenology, critical theory, Filipino philosophy and other related fields are also
accepted.

Selected papers will be published in a Special Issue of the PHAVISMINDA Journal

serving as the Conference Proceedings.

For purposes of consideration, please submit an abstract consisting of no more than 300
words, with 3 keywords and attach a separate title page which includes the paper’s title,
the author’s name, institutional affiliation, mailing address, and email address. Abstracts
will be reviewed blind by a committee. Proposals accepted for oral presentation will be
notified via email.

Accepted papers for presentation at the conference must not exceed 3,000 words and
must be submitted to the conference organizers one month before the conference (27
April 2011).

the decision is made within 4 weeks after submission, which includes information on
registration deadlines and paper submission requirements.
