    This circular from the Indian Institute of Insurance Surveyors & Loss Assessors provides clarification on survey fees for motor, fire, and engineering claims.     Re: Clarification on Survey fees

    As per the GIPSA clarifications circular vide letter No. RK / Survey Fee / 46 / ms /
    2007 dated 28.8.2008.

    1.Motor, Fire, Engineering Claims

    1.1 In case of motor claims, the survey fee is computed on the basis of estimated amount of loss
    and in case the estimated loss is more than the IDV of the vehicle, survey fee may be
    restricted to the IDV only.

    1.2 Survey fee in respect of fire and engineering losses should be based on gross assessment
    without any deduction for depreciation, under insurance, salvage value and deductible etc.

    1.2 Spot survey, Final survey and Re-inspection are separate jobs and surveyors are entitled for
    separate fee for each job as per schedule of motor department.
