3) What is the most critical problem between Welland and Boddington?

Who should be held

accountable for the conflict? Why?

The most critical problem here between Welland and Bodington was the situation they were into.

From the case history we came to know that the resort was falling short of resources. It was
caused by frequent changees in ownership and falling sales. So even if Bodington wanted to hire
more experienced person for the staff supervisor’s position; she couldn’t. So she had to assign
Welland to that position even though Welland didn’t have any experience handling that
particular position. Welland was assigned to the position because of his 4 years involvement with
the resort. But as Bodington was not satisfied with her decision so she was showing some
negative attitude towards Welland. She even doubted on Wellands capability to perform the job
appropriately and started performing tasks that was supposed to be performed by Welland. These
series of consequences created the conflict between Welland and Bodington.

The reasons Bodington should be held accountable for the conflict are that Even though the
resort was short of resources despite knowing Welland's lack of qualification Bodington hired
Welland. She even went onto pursuing him to take the job by promising certain perks and
benefits.

As Bodington hired someone inexperienced, she should have at least given Welland the chance
to do certain tasks and grow in his new position. If she was to do the tasks herself then there was
no point in promoting Welland. Welland does have a case against Bodington. In fact one could
even hold her responsible for mismanaging and declining sales.
