Well, recently Ibrahim Handoko is 15-year-old presented at the Young Scientist regional competition in Duisburg, Germany. http://daydaily.com/2010/02/25/indonesian-genius-teenager-found-pyra mid-formula/ Initially, Ibrahim only meant to help his sister nish her school work on the pyramid formula. This problem is essentially to count the number of digits on top of a pyramid. Usually, this problem is solved by adding one by one numbers in the pyramid to nd the total volume of the pyramid. With Ibrahim s ndings, this mathematical problem can be solved faster and more precise without having to count one by one. Thanks to his discovery, Ibrahim has been nominated as one of the best young researchers in 2010 in Germany. In addition to that, Ibrahim, son of the Mr. and Mrs. Budi Handoko, was also chosen as the best mathematic student and will be representing his district in mathematics olympiad at the natinal level next year.

Nelson Tansu: A Genius in his own world (2011-03-24 02:35)

This Nelson Tansu appear to be a genius. He makes me proud. I wish I could be a likehim. But today I am sad After doing my research, I found out that Nelson Tansu that I admire the most is a self proclaimed genius. What does it mean? It means that he is a BS artist. Nelson Tansu IS NOT the youngest professor in the US. history, Alia Sabur is the worlds youngest professor, at her 19th birthday she was oered a professorship in the department of advanced technology fusion at Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea. She is recorded in Guinness world record as the Youngest Professor. Another young professor is Noam Elkies is becomes a FULL professorship at the age of 26 years in the US. Meanwhile Nelson Tansu only became an ASSISTANT professor at the age of 26 years. (Assistant professor is a position generally after receiving PhD ) And now he is only an ASSOCIATE professor at the age of 33 years old. He is NOT a FULL professor. You can learn about dierent professors here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professor In the US, after PhD one can become an assistant professor. Meanwile Nelson Tansu boasts around Indonesia that he is the youngest professor in the history thinking all Indonesian are stupid. He wrote in Indonesian Wikipedia that he is the youngest professor in history, an Indonesian genius..and so on: Profesor termuda di Amerika di sepanjang sejarah, Orang jenius Indonesia, Indonesian Einstein, Bintang muda paling bersinar dalam Optoelektronika, Berlian yang berserak, Fisikawan termuda (See http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson Tansu) His entry in Engish Wikipedia is deleted already because of inaccurate information. Tansu boast that Lehigh University is the worlds famous university. The truth,Lehigh is only ranking 400 to 600 in the world!! University of Tokyo is ranking 24. National University of Singapore has a Ranking of 31 . Peking University ranking is 47. How can you call Lehigh a top university when is ranking 500 down below Tokyo, NUS and Peking from Asia? From New York Times 28 March 2011 It was a cloak-and-dagger moment in Indonesia s culture war between peddlers of titillation and Islamist conservatives. In a run-down maternity hospital in Jakarta s gritty exurbs recently, the shooting of Evil Nurse 2, a sequel to a low-budget horror lm, proceeded under unusually tight secrecy. Rather than seek news coverage for the movie, the lmmaker, Ody Mulya Hidayat, swore entertainment reporters to silence. An ill-timed piece of publicity could bring enraged Islamist activists banging down the door. A single leaked photo could invite prosecution and a lengthy jail term. The reason for all the furtiveness was Sora Aoi, a diminutive Japanese sex-lm star who had been spirited into the country for a leading role in the movie, her presence concealed as she was ferried between her hotel and shoots around Jakarta. Ms. Aoi, and others like her, are the secret of a winning formula stumbled upon by Maxima Pictures, the production house where Mr. Hidayat is an executive producer. For two years, Maxima has made some of Indonesia s most popular domestic lms based on a simple premise: that many in Muslim-majority Indonesia will pay to see foreign porn stars perform clothed in local lms. Just don t expect Indonesians to own up to it. We re hypocrites, said Mr. Hidayat, who is a Muslim. People know who they are, but they won t admit it. It s a love-hate thing. In few countries is the word pornography as politically charged as in Indonesia. Long known for its moderate and syncretic practice of Islam, and home to a large non-Muslim population, Indonesia has in recent years experienced a surge of orthodox Islam that has tried to reshape society, with the war on smut as a cause clbre. In 2008, Parliament passed a law including jail sentences of up to 12 years for producing or distributing pornography, which is dened broadly as anything a drawing, a movie or a body movement deemed to violate public decency. An online pornography lter was imposed by the government last year. At the same time, Islamist vigilante groups like the Islamic Defenders Front, or F.P.I., have taken to the streets to enforce morality, sometimes violently, as the police have stood by. The groups are bolstered by provisions in the antipornography law that empower private citizens to act. While ostensibly about morality, the campaign is seen by many liberals and minorities as a broader push to Islamize Indonesia. The lmmakers at Maxima are unlikely cultural warriors. With a standard fare relying heavily on ghosts, 25

gore and teen slapstick, their lms are hardly high art, said Yoen K, one of the company s producers. You have to realize that our market is the C, D, E class, not the A, B class for Indonesian movies, he said. But the company does know its market. In 2009, Maxima prompted a nationwide media sensation as well as denunciations by politicians and protests by F.P.I. hard-liners by announcing its plan to work with Maria Ozawa, a Japanese sex-lm star. While protests forced Maxima to cancel plans to lm scenes with Ms. Ozawa in Jakarta, the controversy showed that for many Indonesians, Miyabi as Indonesians popularly know Ms. Ozawa was already a household name. Films starring her ( Kidnapping Miyabi ) and another Japanese porn star, Rin Sakuragi ( Evil Nurse ), have been resounding successes. But making the lms means toeing a delicate legal line and avoiding provoking vigilantes, Mr. Hidayat said. First we have to make sure the lm is safe, passes the censor, and then it s ready to show. He said he feared that a single clip or screen shot showing too much esh, if made public before passing the censorship board, could be used as a basis for prosecution under the 2008 antipornography law. As far as Islamist protesters are concerned, Mr. Hidayat said, They want to scream about morals, go ahead. But our lms go through the legal processes, through the lm censors. The last time Maxima failed to keep its intentions under wraps, things did not go well. In late 2010, when the producers were discovered to be planning to y Ms. Ozawa in to promote a second lm that had been shot in secret, Carriage Ghost, the F.P.I. struck, protesting at Maxima s oces and sending members to Jakarta s international airport with hopes of intercepting Ms. Ozawa and sending her back to Japan by force. Mr. Hidayat s attempt to defuse the situation with a meeting at Maxima s oces was a failure. On Dec. 1, trailed by television cameras and dressed in white turbans and crisp robes, the Jakarta leadership of the F.P.I. swept into the oce, past a group of hired muscle brought in by the studio for security. Facing Mr. Hidayat across a conference table, Salim Alattas, the F.P.I. s Jakarta chief, denounced Ms. Ozawa as a poisonous inuence on the nation s morality. Mr. Hidayat had been warned twice to not bring her to Indonesia, Mr. Alattas said. There would be no third warning. We come with good intentions, but if you try to sneak Miyabi in, our intentions will no longer be good, he said. Another F.P.I. leader, Sahab Anggawi, lost his composure: For destroying this country, you should be thrown out! Or have both your hands cut o! Then have both your feet cut o! Mr. Hidayat, visibly sweating, didn t commit to making any changes. Other Maxima producers, including Mr. Yoen, a non-Muslim ethnic Chinese, stayed out of sight in another room. Shortly afterward, Maxima canceled Ms. Ozawa s trip and later brought in Ms. Aoi. Months later, Mr. Hidayat said he was condent enough about how far he could push Indonesia s moral enforcers. After its secret lming, Evil Nurse 2 is set for release in late April, and Maxima is looking to bring in more Japanese porn stars without prior publicity. There s give and take, there s a limit to their attacks, Mr. Hidayat said of the radical groups. Ms. Aoi, the star of Evil Nurse 2, said the fact that Indonesia was a conservative country gave her pause, but that she decided to press on regardless of earlier controversies. Her goal here, she said during a break between shooting in early March, is the same as for the other nonpornography projects she has undertaken in Japan, Thailand, South Korea and China: to complement her notoriety in the sex-lm business with mainstream fame. One of my career goals was to work abroad, and I also love to be in entertainment, she said. And I was also really looking forward to coming into contact with foreigners and engaging in communication.

John Juanda, Genius from Medan (2011-04-07 04:09)

[EMBED] John Juanda (originally Jhonson) was born July 8, 1971 in Medan. He is a professional poker player based in Marina del Rey, California. Direct from Medan, John arrived in the United States in 1990 to study at Oklahoma State University. He earned an MBA from Seattle University. Growing up in Medan, he didnt live with his parents, despite being in the same town and seeing them several times a week for family dinners; he grew up under his grandparents until he was in the fth grade. His father, a gambler, lectured his son about the troubles gambling could cause. After Juandas mother and father sent him to the US in 1990 to go to college and earn his degree, they expected him to return and either take over the family business or start one of his own. Juanda originally was on a ight headed for New York to attend Stony Brook University in New York City where he wanted to study medicine, but after the two friends who ew from Indonesia with him couldnt get along, one friend decided he was going to move to Oklahoma, attend Oklahoma State, and study business because it was easier and faster. Meanwhile, the other friend went to New York to become a doctor, leaving John in the middle. In the end, Juanda chose the easy major and ended up at Oklahoma State. Once settled in the Midwest, Juanda progressed quickly in the classroom, also learning skills outside of school that would later become critical to his success in poker. Juandas observation skills were being honed as he arrived at OSU, because he spoke almost no English when he arrived in the US, he had to rely on reading peoples body language just to understand what they were trying to communicate. Even though I couldnt really speak English, I did know that we dont learn anything when we talk, even if it is more fun to hear ourselves, Juanda explained. We learn more when we pay attention and listen. And it werent for that early experience of trying to watch and gure people out because I had to get by, I dont think I ever wouldve been the player I am today. While Juanda dabbled in poker (mostly Friday night, dorm-room ve-card stud games) in college, after graduation from Oklahoma State in 1994, he returned to Indonesia and began falling in line with his parents plans for him. But shortly after he arrived home thirsting, in a way, for some type of the gambling action hed grown accustomed to back in college Juanda said he reached one of the lowest points in his life. Once I got back home, I had this credit card with a pretty big limit on it, and I dont know whether it was because I was back around old friends or I was drinking a little too much, but before I knew it, Id run up more than $15,000 of debt at one of the casinos in Indonesia, Juanda said. Here I was, just graduated from college with my degree, yet I felt so stupid. The only way Juanda knew that he could pay it o was to tell his mother that he wanted to go back to the United States and get his masters degree. He knew that she would give him $40,000 to go back to school and study again, and he could take $15,000 of that to repay his debt. It was bad of me, I know, Juanda said. But that was the only solution I had to get myself out of trouble. Juanda returned to US later in 1994, this time enrolling in Seattle University in Washington to earn his MBA, though he knew he still needed to nd a way to replace the $15,000 hed foolishly lost back in Indonesia. Midway through his time in Seattle, Juanda discovered that Harrahs Casino had nanced a new establishment on an Indian reservation about an hour outside of town. He visited during an o day and eventually turned it into his home. Over the next decade, Juanda became one of the most feared and respected players in the game. He nal tabled the rst two World Series of Poker events he entered in 1999. He followed that up with a win in the 2001 Jack Binion World Poker Open championship. He picked up his rst WSOP bracelet in 2002 for his victory in the Triple Draw Lowball event. He won two more bracelets in 2003. In the rst three seasons of the World Poker Tour, Juanda made ve nal tables. In less than ten years, Juanda had become a worldwide poker star and used his money to put his sister through college. While his soft-spoken attitude may not draw a lot of attention from TV cameras, his poker skill draws more attention than most poker players on the circuit. There seems little chance hell go back to selling bibles door-to-door. 36

Yow-Pin Lim Yow-Pin Lim is a research scientist with background in protein and immunochemistry. After completing his medical school and dissertation thesis in Berlin, Germany, he came for post doc training in the carcinogenesis laboratory at Rhode Island Hospital and joined as Brown faculty in 1993. His research focuses on natural serine protease inhibitor proteins and their roles in systemic inammation/sepsis and cancer metastasis. In 2001 he co-founded a start-up company ProThera Biologics in East Providence, RI and he has been served as President and Chief Scientic Ocer. His research focuses on the role of serine protease inhibitors in inammation, sepsis, and cancer metastasis. Inter-alpha inhibitors (IaI) are a family of complex proteins known to inhibit serine proteases such as trypsin, elastase, and plasmin. Signicant decrease of IaI levels is found in septic patients and the levels correlate inversely with disease severity and mortality. The long term goal is to develop IaI as a useful theranostic marker and a therapeutic agent in sepsis and cancer.

Johny Setiawan, Astronomer from Indonesia (2011-04-07 15:36)

Johny Setiawan, an Astronaut from Indonesia Find a New Planet Called HIP 13044 b HIP 13044 b is the name of Jupiter-sized planet that was discovered and was born outside our galaxy, the Milky Way. The inventor is Johny Setiawan, an astrophysicist born in Jakarta on August 16, 1974. Johnny and his team found the planet when he saw the object moving around the parent star. Using a Spectrograph with a telescope 2.2 meters at the European Southern Observatory s La Silla Observatory, Chile, he believes that it is a planet. This discovery is part of our study. We are always looking for exoplanets orbiting around a star that is almost dead, said Johnny, who works at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) and the author Science paper. Exoplanets or extrasolar planets are planets outside our solar system. This nding makes our spirit. Therefore, it is situated very far from the earth about 2,000 light-years away, said Johnny, who now lives in Heidelberg, Germany. HIP 13044 b distance close to the parent star when it made only 16-day orbital period. Star itself is run through the red giant phase, which swell in size from its original diameter before dying from loss of hydrogen. According to Johnny, our sun will experience the same thing in about ve million years. The star is spinning relatively fast, he said. As a result, the star swallowing nearby planets during red giant phase. After that spins even faster. Johnny, who mastered ve languages: Indonesian, German, English, French, and Spanish, adding that there are still unanswered questions about how planets berlum could be formed. In fact, the planet orbits around stars that have few chemical elements, other than hydrogen and helium. This is a rare occurrence. It s still a puzzle. How could a star that only a small amount of chemical elements to form a planet, said Johnny. The planet around a star like this certainly do not like planet formed in general.

In 1932, he moved to Jakarta, Indonesia. The tension between nationalist groups such as Persagi Persatuan Ahli-ahli Gambar Indonesia, or Association of Indonesian Draughtsmans and Indische-Holland kunstkring community stimulated him. In 1942, Man Fong was jailed because of his opposition to Japanese colonialism in Indonesia. After six months in jail, Takahashi Masao helped him gain freedom. This Japanese ocer was interested in his artistic potential. In 1946, President Sukarno heard about him when he had his solo exhibition in Jakarta. Billionaire with the Worst Environmental Disaster (2011-04-08 20:08)

Sukanto Tanoto (born in Medan on 25 December 1949 with Chinese birth name: Chen Jianghe, or Hokkian dialect: Tan Kang Ho)was listed in 2008 as the richest Indonesian, according to the Forbes magazine with the total net worth of US $ 3.8 billion (ranked 284th on Forbes 500 list). Corporate analyst from PT Cisi Raya Utama, Wilson Nababan, said Sukanto is a creative, dynamic and aggressive entrepreneur who wanted to be a major player in a short time. From his origin in North Sumatra, sometimes his aggressiveness turned to arrogance, as he has many friends in high places, Nababan said. After his father died in 1974, Sukanto took over the management of the family business. However, he had only his business intuition to rely upon. To implement more modern business practices, he urged his younger brother Polar Yanto Tanoto who has an academic background, to help him. Worked since 17 years for 16 hours a day, the young Tanoto slowly moved from a common trading to snare contracts in building gas pipelines for multinational companies. His luck began to show up during the 1972 oil crisis. Oil prices went hike and oil producers rapidly expanded their operations. Tanotos contracts grew dramatically and he managed to cash in his rst US 1 million dollars. With some capitals at hands, Sukanto Tanoto tried to force his luck on bigger business. Tanoto noticed that Indonesia exported wooden logs, which were then converted into plywood abroad in countries like Japan or Taiwan and then imported back to Indonesia with higher costs. Realizing this ineciency and also an opportunity, Tanoto then wanted to start business in the pulp industry. However, he rst needed a permit. A skeptical army general, who at rst doubted Tanotos business plan, agreed to give him a permission with a requirement that Tanoto must report him back when the factory is nished. In 10 months, Tanoto built his rst pulp mill, Inti Indorayon Utama in the North Sumatra province. The army general was impressed and he alerted the countrys top leader. On 7 August 1975, Suharto descended to Medan to inaugurate the factory. The new pulp industry initiated Tanotos business with Suharto, which swiftly made himself as a new Indonesian tycoon in the 1980s. The era of diversication began when Sukanto entered the agribusiness sector. In cooperation with Liem Sioe Liongs Salim Group, Sukanto set up PT Asian Agro Lestari to manage oil palm plantations and processing plants, which are also located in North Sumatra. In April 1983, Sukanto established Inti Indorayon Utama. It built a plant to produce pulp and rayon ber in Porsea, North Sumatra. Three years later the company began its operations and then expanded into producing acetate resin, lament and staple ber. As was the case of many big businesses during the Soeharto era, Sukanto had a bank to nance his multibillion dollar businesses. He acquired a small private bank named United City Bank in late 1987 from its previous owner James Semaun and then changed the name to Unibank in 1990. In 1997, Sukanto made the bank into a publicly listed company, with total assets of Rp1.9 trillion. However, he had not abandoned his ambition to become the biggest player in the pulp and paper industry. Sukanto then built a multibillion pulp and paper industry called PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper. Beginning operations in 1995, by the year of 2000 it produced 935,269 tonnes of pulp and 275,341 tonnes of paper. To become a global player, Sukanto then consolidated his wood based industry by establishing a 56

holding company named Asia Pacic Resources International Holdings Limited or the APRIL Group. Based in Singapore, the company has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 1995. APRIL also became Sukantos vehicle to expand his business to other countries. In 1997, the company acquired half a pulp and paper company in Serawak, Malaysia. It also built two plants in Suzhou, China in cooperation with a company based in Finland called UPM-Kymmene. In the mid 1990s, after the nancial crisis, Tanoto and his family relocated to Singapore and is having its base operation there. Tanoto was trying to seek safe place as a nancial fugitive. He is famous as very aggressive and cruel in the business world, will grab anything he can. This include his own bothers assets. Initially Polar Yanto is listed as the president director of Indorayon, and owned the same amount of share as Sukanto. Polar Yanto was killed in a Gauruda airplane crash in September 1997, ironically the plane crashed because of re haze caused by plantation burning in Sumatra (partly caused by his own plantation companies). Sukanto quickly liquidated all his brothers shares from the companies to become his. And to nish o the job, Sukanto was listed as the sole inheritance of his brothers estate. Leaving nothing to Plars wife and children, the registration for his brothers wife and children are wiped out and destroyed having no proof of they are related to his brother. Sukanto then consolidated his business group as his own by establishing four APRIL holding companies in the pulp and paper industry, PEC Tech for the construction sector, Asian Agro for plantations, and RGM Indonesia for other portfolios. They are all covered by a top holding company, RGM International in Singapore. His conglomerate RGE (Royal Golden Eagle) (or Raja Garuda Mas) has $10 billion in assets; owns papermaker April and palm oil rm Asian Agri. Has operations in China, Brazil. Member of the Asia executive advisory board of Wharton and member of the Insead International Council. One of his subsidiaries, Sateri International, kicked o trading at Hongkong Stock Exchange in December last year. Tanoto is infamous for destroying the environment - His Pulp Mill Into Indorayon Utama located along Ashan River in North Sumatra was full of controversy. Illegal logging and pollution from the chemical pulp waste. The quality of air and water around Asahan River degraded drastically, which was said to be responsible to certain skin diseases, reducing corp production and water contamination, was responsible for some landslide disasters in the area and released toxic chlorine gas during the 1993 boiler explosion. It was nally closed down in 1999. - Raja Garuda Mas International (RGM International) holding company, is famous for illegal logging. Destroying rainforests and relacing it with commercial woods. Thousands of hectares of forests near Lake Toba were logged and destroyed. - Pulp business Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper (RAPP), illegal logging, air and water pollution. - Asian Agri, specializing in Oil palm plantation, mostly in South Sumatera. Known to clear forests by burning creating the disastrous re in 1997. Also clearing peatlands and destroying the environment. In May 2007, Indonesian ocials hunted down the main players of Asian Agri Group, including Sukanto Tanoto, for tax embezzlement. It was estimated that the state of Indonesia had lost of a minimum of 786.3 billion rupiahs from this case. However, the group published a statement that the materials for the tax evasion case were obtained from a former Asian Agri employee, who was on the run after embezzling more than US $ 3 million from the company. Sukanto claimed to have a corporate responsibility by establishing his philantropic activity. After destructor the environment and gained billions of dollars, he is now playing to be a nice guy teaching farmers how not to use slash and burn. Meanwhile his companies are doing large scale forest clearance by burning.

Both of these guys are from Medan. Both think they are genius. Sukanto claims he was a self-educated entrepreneur. He didnt nished high school, he learned English word-by-word using a Chinese-English dictionary. He said he studied at INSEAD, a business school in Fountainbleu, France. And also claimed he makes a frequent visit to management courses at top universities, such as Harvard, Stanford, Kellogg, Wharton, Carnegie Mellon, etc., which he calls it a management holiday. There is no pro he ever studies in those top universities, he just had lots of money to hire people. Nelson Tansu is a not-self educated engineer, he studied in school as normal people does, Bachelor and then PhD. But he claims to be a genius and youngest professor. Nelson Tansu was recently caught cheating by self citation. He manipulate his citation index by self citation to look that his work is important. Self consistent citation by Nelson Tansu (2011-04-09 17:33)

Nelson Tansu like to call himself the youngest professor and greatest man in the world. He compare himself with Albert Einstein. He like to duplicate his research so it is published twice or three times in dierent places. for example this paper which has the same content appear more than once - Self-consistent gain analysis of type-II W InGaN GaNAs quantum well lasers http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/freeabs all.jsp?arnumber=4915806 -Self-Consistent Optical Gain Analysis and Epitaxy of Strain-Compensated InGaN-AlGaN Quantum Wells for Laser Applications http://www.opticsinfobase.org/abstract.cfm?URI=CLEO-2008-CMI2 - Self-Consistent Analysis of Strain-Compensated InGaN AlGaN Quantum Wells for Lasers and LightEmitting Diodes http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Xplore/login.jsp?url=http %3A %2F %2Fieeexplore.ieee.org %2Fiel5 %2F3 %2F4675284 %2F04675289.pdf %3Farnumber %3D4675289 &authDecision=-203 He just change few words and sentences to make like he make a lot of research. A research also found out that Nelson Tansu self consistent making self citation. This self consistent analysis of quantum well is a proof of self citation. This is called Self-Plagiarism and Self-Citation, http://www.rogerclarke.com/SOS/SCSP-09.html A Professor Roger Clarke Identied this behavior of Nelson Tansu as (1) Self-Plagiarism of a Work Occasional examples come to light of a paper being published, in identical form, in two journals. This is prima facie a grievous breach of ethics, because it represents fraudulent claims of originality. The breach is all the more serious if there is evidence of active intent to defraud, such as the provision of a dierent title or abstract, but an identical body. (see example above) (2) Self-Plagiarism of a Substantial Portion A new paper may use a substantial portion of a prior work. Examples include: the outline description of the research program/project; the rehearsal of the theoretical foundations; the depiction of the research method adopted. (3) Self-Plagiarim of a Small but Signicant Portion The term substantial is vague, but implies both quantity and substance. In some circumstances, a small 64

quantity may nonetheless be of sucient substance that attribution is warranted, if only as a matter of self-defence. Such small but signicant portions include critical passages of text, a critical concept and even a key phrase or neologism, but particularly key diagrams. (4) Self-Plagiarism of a Small and Insignicant Portion Attribution in the form of a citation is unnecessary in the case of other short passages, simple diagrams, segments of diagrams, phrases, or unremarkable neologisms. rofessional jealousies play an important role in preventing individuals from in eect recommending themselves into a respected position within a discipline. Reputation is earned, not promulgated; and standing is granted by ones seniors and peers, not asserted. (5) Self-Citation by Authors Nelson Tansu seek to create and sustain their brand. This is achieved by being noticed. An author can be noticed because of what they publish, how often they publish, the locations in which they publish, the specic citations that their publications garner in later papers, and overall citation-counts. This is a proven in recent research by Nelson tansu on self consistent self citation analysis http://www.scribd.com/doc/52567434/ConsistentselfcitationNe lsonTansu

Nelson Tansus Secret Wife: Aisyah Tansu (2011-04-12 05:16)

This is just another gossip ... Nelson Tansu was married to a Muslim woman Aisyah Arismunandar Tansu in 2004. Aisyah is a Teaching Assistant at Lehigh University, where they met and have a special relationship. Thats why Nelson Tansu become famous in Indonesia because his wife, a native Indonesian lobbied the media and government. She is just as good as Tansu. Of course the story is not true.. she likes attention like Tansu. I think they are both the same, like to have attention and telling lies. You can read her story here in a famous Kompas newspaper: http://ekstra.kompasiana.com/english/2010/03/30/letter-for-my-halt-s on/ Me (Aisyah Arismunandar Tansu) and my husband (Nelson Tansu) start to build a scientist comunity trough study net in 2004, that s also the year of we met and make a commitment in a special relationship (in May 2004). I build trust from inside (Indonesia government and academicions) while he build trust from outside cause he s the one who have well known in International world. It didn t like trading or making politic deals&nooo it s really really diferent& we should show our ability to that all people. We stepping from zero..one by one&until the net is ready containing all creativities, thinking and idealism. It s sound private& yes it s quietly private& cause it s very dicult making comunications with a closed comunities. Many of scientist have the same fearness&they afraid that what they create will used to destroyed humans. Like what happened to Albert Einstein at past. And it s not the only problem, we should facing people who didn t agree with our movement, the opposision (cause I m working for the government), and many bad peoples from our past. I should facing my ex lecturer who spreading forbiden faith until they could killed my rst husband and destroy my life. Nelson Tansu should facing a crazy cousin who involve in his parents murder with robbery background. And you know what the murder wants&they try to stilling my money that I entrust it to papa Iskandar Tansu and mama Lily Auw. My beloved parents in law were killed cause they protecting my orphans childrens money. Yes I have an orphan house in Medan, and I trusted my parents in law to take care of it because& I see that they are a lovely parent, I want my childrens got full attention and lovecare like my husband. And they agree with that, they were very pleased cause it make them always bussy with childrens. Even the murder had caught know and being punish, but the real actor behind it still free to go anywhere, even she giving statement for the tragedy vicing my husband family. And the worst is& she giving statement that she is Nelson Tansu s wife, and told it in many forum and social nets. It s embarashing him, until he and he s family fed up and drag her to the court. But political involving make it long and crowded.

Self Consistent Nelson Tansu (2011-04-12 15:13)

A New research has done a self consistent analysis on Nelson Tansu. This research nd consistent self citation in the eld of Physics and MOCVD of III-Nitride and III-V Semiconductor Optoelectronics Materials and Devices; III-Nitride and III-V Semiconductor Nanostructures for Solid State Lightings, Energy, and Communications; Photonics. According to the denition: A self-citation is a reference an author provide in a document to other documents written by himself. Self-references may result from the cumulative nature of individual research, the need for personal gratication, or the value of self-citation as a rhetorical and tactical tool in the struggle for visibility and scientic authority. (http://www.iva.dk/bh/core %20concepts %20in %20lis/articles %20a-z/self citation.htm) We can use Scopus (http://www.scopus.com), a publication database to investigate this. You can do this at a university library. Search for Tansu, N as author. Now, Scopus only gives 148 papers (Not 220) We can do a citation analysis. Scopus gives a total number of citations = 1148, with h index = 19 But look at the 1148 citations, how many citation is due to Tansu himself. What is his self citation? In Scopus select Exclude from citations self citation of authors The result of Scopus ve: Total citations: 598, h index = 13 It means that from the 1148 citations, 550 citations come from Tansu himself, almost half of the citation (48 %) are self citation. Nelson Tansu has a 50 % self citation. Congratulation, Tansu is a Self-Consistent Self-Citation. You can prove it from his paper: - Example no. 1 Gain and spontaneous emission characteristics of high Al-content AlGaN quantum well lasers. Zhang, J., Zhao, H., Tansu, N. 2010. 23rd Annual Meeting of the IEEE Photonics Society, PHOTINICS 2010 , art. no. 5698758, pp. 63-64 This paper has 12 references, and 5 of that is Tansu own paper. Self citation = 42 % - Zhao, H., Liu, G., Li, X.-H., Ee, Y.-K., HuaTong, Zhang, J., Huang, G.S., Tansu, N. Novel growth and device concepts for high-eciency InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes. Lasers and Electro-Optics/Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference: 2010 Laser Science to Photonic Applications, CLEO/QELS 2010 , art. no. 5501113 This paper has 13 references, and 11 of that is Tansu own paper. Self citation = 85 % - Li, X.-H., Tong, H., Zhao, H., Tansu, N. Band structure calculation of dilute-As GaNAs by rst principle. Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7597, art. no. 75970H This paper has 26 references, and 23 of that is Tansu own paper. Self citation = 64 % - Zhao, H., Liu, G., Tansu, N. Analysis of InGaN-delta-InN quantum wells for light-emitting diodes. Applied 81

Physics Letters 97 (13), art. no. 131114 This paper has 38 references, and 16 of that is Tansu own paper. Self citation = 42 % Zhao, H., Arif, R.A., Tansu, N. Design analysis of staggered InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes at 500540 nm This paper has 28 references, and 7 of that is Tansu own paper. Self citation = 25 % Read his CV here and look at his publications: http://www.ece.lehigh.edu/ tansu/pdf/Tansu CV.pdf Notice publication after year 2006 (No. 85 in his list), Tansu are all as last author. That means he just do nothing, and he asked people to put his name on the paper. If he s such a great professor, his name will not be at the last of all the papers. He claimed to have more than 220 papers, but only 148 papers are really counted as scientic papers by Scopus. Here is another proof that Tansu is manipulating the citation to get a high h-index. The h-index is an index to measure both the productivity and impact of the published work of a scientist or scholar. The index is based on the set of the scientists most cited papers and the number of citations that they have received. A scientist has index h if he has published h papers each of which has been cited by others at least h times. (Highlight by others, meaning you shouldnt cite yourself to get a high h index) You can manipulate the h-index if you keep citing your own paper. Remember the result from Scopus is h index = 19. Here are examples: Look at his top cited paper: Tansu N., Kirsch N.J., Mawst L.J. Low-threshold-current-density 1300-nm dilute-nitride quantum well lasers. 2002, Applied Physics Letters, (14) 2523 This paper has 116 citations, but 41 is due to Tansu, self citation 35 % And this is getting better Tansu N., Mawst L.J. Design analysis of 1550-nm GaAsSb-(In)GaAsN type-II quantum-well laser active regions 2003, IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, This paper has 20 citations, and 12 is due to Tansu, self citation 60 %. Ee Y.-K., Arif R.A., Tansu N., Kumnorkaew P., Gilchrist J.F. Enhancement of light extraction eciency of InGaN quantum wells light emitting diodes using Si O2 /polystyrene microlens arrays 2007, Applied Physics Letters, (22) This paper has 19 citations, and 11 is due to Tansu, self citation 58 %. Note this is his paper #19 ranked by citations. He keep on citing this paper so he can get a higher h index. Tansu N., Yeh J.-Y., Mawst L.J. Physics and characteristics of high performance 1200 nm InGaAs and 1300-1400 nm InGaAsN quantum well lasers obtained by metal-organic chemical vapour deposition 2004, Journal of Physics Condensed Matter This paper has 19 citations, and 10 is due to Tansu, self citation 53 %. This is his paper #20 ranked by citations. He will keep on citing this paper so he can get a higher h index. Tansu N., Yeh J.-Y., Mawst L.J. Improved photoluminescence of InGaAsN-(In)GaAsP quantum well by organometallic vapor phase epitaxy using growth pause annealing 2003, Applied Physics Letters This paper has 18 citations, and 9 is due to Tansu, self citation 50 %. This is his paper #21 ranked by citations. He will keep on citing this paper so he can get a higher h index. You can see Tansu manipulate by citing his paper so he can get a high h index. Nelson Tansu claimed to be a genius and youngest professor, but it is all due to consistent self citation. As the denition says it is a result of the need for personal gratication, as a tactical tool in the struggle for visibility and scientic authority.(http://www.iva.dk/bh/core %20concepts %20in %20lis/articles %20a-z/self citation.htm) According to research self citation is used as a promotional strategy. 82

(http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=766448) That is why this Tansu is a Self Consistent Self Citation Professor. The research found Nelson Tansu manipulate his paper so that he has more citation.

-By this paper: Eect of crystal-eld split-o hole and heavy-hole bands crossover on gain characteristics of high Al-content AlGaN quantum well lasers Zhang, J., Zhao, H., Tansu, N. 2010 Applied Physics Letters 97 (11), art. no. 111105 This analysis shows Tansu systematically and strategically cite himself so he can have a high citation index.

The analysis from the Research ID website shows that tansu have a low citation in 2007 until 2009, and just increase recently in 2010 because of self citation. His h index is 21 because of self citation. Read the following paper showing that his real h index is just 13, and only from the 1200 citation, 550 citation is from Tansu. How do you do that? For example if in one paper Tansu cite 10 of his own paper, then after 55 papers, Tansu will get 550 citation. This is the game that Tansu plays to get famous. Towards 10 self citation per paper.

Nuntita Bell (2011-04-13 04:43)

Bell Nuntita or Nuntrita Khampriranon was born in December 1983, came from Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. She is a freelance singer living her ordinary life at Korat, Thailand. In addition of being a freelance singer, she also works as a DJ for 96.0 Gs radio and creating commercial jingles with her unlimited creativity. Her Height: 171cm Weight: 57kg with measurement: 34-26-35. He/She is the only son of a father who served in the army, expressing her femininity while being a boy caused her troubles. Boys made fun of me at school. They picked on me a lot. At home, my dad used to beat me [almost] to death, she said. He wanted me to be normal, she said. Asking how she survived the bullying, Nuntita said that her growing passion for singing was somehow her saviour. Ive loved singing since I was young. My dad loves karaoke. My grandmother used to be a singer. So its in our blood, During my teenage years, I tried to get involved in a singing club, as it is one of the activity I could do to fulll my dream and to stay away from other boys. More importantly, it is much better to be acknowledged as a schools representative in singing contests, than being referred to only as a gay boy in school. Bell graduated from Nakorn Ratchasima with a GPA of 3.6. 86

After completing her education at a vocational school, Nuntita planned to further her studies in Bangkok, but had to give up the plan due to her familys nancial problems. After I nished school, I got a job oer as a DJ for a local radio station and I also began singing in a pub, One night a playful thought popped into her mind - Nuntita decided to please her peers with her two-voiced magic. Some of the guests realised that I am a transsexual when I did a male voice, she said, laughing. They loved it. And I have been playing this trick with my audiences since then. Bell becomes popular from Thailands Got Talents show (March 2011) where she made both audience and judges shocked from her incredible performance. Her story spread out quickly around the world. For now, she is appearing in many snippets for talk shows and even featured in newspapers and tabloids.

She is clever and beautiful. Unlike Nelson Tansu, who is worse than a transexual, Tansu likes to seek attention by calling himself a genius young professor. Bell has a great talent and famous around the world. Tansu wants to be famous, so he has a self consistent citation. Some ask me if I have Bell Nuntita Picture as a Boy, I have tried hard, and this is the best I can nd: 87

Consistent self citation analysis Nelson Tansu (2011-04-14 03:36)

According to Nelson tansu ResearchID http://www.researcherid.com/rid/A-2309-2008, Tansu has 1200 citation. How does he get so many citation? Is he a famous person,or a genius, or his work is very important? The Indonesia media think Tansu is super genius and treat him like a god. But the real story behind this is because Tansu is a so called consistent self citation, meaning he like to refer to himself to make him look important. Tansu is worse than a trans-sexual seeking attention (read about the famous Thai singer). Tansu like to seek attention by so called consistent self citation. This is the so called proof. Look at Tansu so called article: Zhao, H., Liu, G., Tansu, N. 2010 Analysis of InGaN-delta-InN quantum wells for light-emitting diodes. Applied Physics Letters 97 (13), art. no. 131114 This paper has 16 references to Tansu other papers. Zhao H., Liu G., Arif R.A., Tansu N. Current injection eciency induced eciency-droop in InGaN quantum well light-emitting diodes (2010) Solid-State Electronics, 54 (10), pp. 1119-1124. This paper has 11 references to Tansu himself. Zhao H., Arif R.A., Ee Y.-K., Tansu N. Self-cnsistent analysis of strain-compensated InGaN-AlGaN quantum wells for lasers and light-emitting diodes (2009) IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 45(1), pp. 66-78. This paper has 11 references to Tansu himself. And this paper is cited by Tansu 26 times Zhao H., Arif R.A., Tansu N. Design analysis of staggered InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes at 500540 nm (2009) IEEE Journal on Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 15 (4), art. no. 5109747, pp. 1104-1114. This paper has 11 references to Tansu himself. And worse Tansu cite 25 times.this paper in his other papers Ee Y.-K., Kumnorkaew P., Arif R.A., Tong H., Zhao H., Gilchrist J.F., Tansu N. Optimization of light extraction eciency of III-nitride LEDs with self-assembled colloidal-based microlenses (2009) IEEE Journal on Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 15 (4), art. no. 5061625, pp. 1218-1225. This paper is cited by Tansu himself 12 times. Arif R.A., Zhao H., Ee Y.-K., Tansu N. Spontaneous emission and characteristics of staggered InGaN quantum-well light-emitting diodes (2008) IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 44 (6), pp. 573-580. This paper is cited by Tansu himself 25 times. 89

This is just some examples of his recent so called research papers. Tansu activity clearly shows he like to seek attention to make himself look important. So where does the so called 1200 citation come from. All come by Tansu citing himself. Tansu cite himself 20 times in a paper, and after 10 papers he already has 200 citations. Of course he doesnt write the paper, he ask his students to write the paper and demand the student to cite Tansu. This graph show the citation of Tansu suddenly jump in 2010 because Tansu increase his so called self citation activity. Tansu boast that Lehigh University is the worlds top famous university. Here is the truth, real statistic from World University Ranking:Lehigh is only ranking 400 to 600 in the world!! Compare to other Asian university: University of Tokyo is ranking 24. National University of Singapore has a Ranking of 31 . Peking University ranking is 47. How can you call Lehigh a top university when is ranking 500 down below Tokyo, NUS and Peking from Asia? I am not bulshiting you like Tansu, here is the real ranking of Lehigh in the world: Ranked 434 according to Ranking Web of World Universities 2010 [3] Ranked 401-500 according to Academic Ranking of World Universities 2010 [4] Ranked 401-500 according to QS World University Rankings 2010 [5] Ranked 792 in the world, 225 in the region, and 196 in the US according to SCImago Institutions Rankings 2010 [6] Ranked 646 according to University Ranking by Academic Performance 2010 [7] Ranked 454 according to High Impact Universities 2010 [8] Read more of Tansu dirty secret of self citation from this blog, a complete analysis: http://whatisgenius.blogspot.com/

Nelson Tansu vs Nuntita Bell (2011-04-15 04:29)

What is the comparison of Nuntita Bell and Nelson Tansu? Bell is Thailand s Got Talent contestant, she stunned the judges and audience with her live singing, which subsequently captured over 2 million YouTube viewers who tuned in to watch her audition. Bell is a 27-year-old freelance singer, impressed the judges and audience with her beautiful feminine appearance the moment she stepped into the spotlight. The moment Bell started singing, the audience cheered and clapped loudly at her amazing feminine voice and beauty. About 64 seconds into the song, the audience was knocked o their seats as Bell unexpectedly lowered her pitch to an ultra-masculine bass. By the end of the song, the judges were stunned and the audience erupted with wild cheers and ecstatic applause. Bell is a clever girl and works hard. She graduated from a university in Thailand. Meanwhile Tansu is worse than a Transexual trying to get attention. He want to become famous like Bell, so he just self citation te get famous. Look at his hair, like an idiot trying to blu kids that he is a genius.

Sukanto Tanoto donated to INSEAD (2011-04-15 05:04)

Sukanto Tanoto, the billionaire from Indonesia, who made money from illegal logging of woods, is a famous charity person. He is a donator for INSEAD (A French Business University) with Singapore branch, for the past 30 years and they made him a the founding member of Euro-Asia Cente. He donated a large undisclosed amount of money to INSEAD . INSEAD loves Sukanto so much that in 2005, the Asia campus library in Singapore was renamed The Tanoto Library and Sukanto and his wife Tinah was given the life-long library membership?? So what book will Sukanto borrow this week? Since he is such a generous entrepreneur with a charity foundation, why dont Sukanto give the money instead to Indonesian school? The poor village schools who got no facility will benet more than INSEAD who charges an expensive fee for doing MBA? Why dont use the money to replant all the forests Sukanto destroyed to make papers? Do some good things to the Indonesian people, and all the forests destroyed, the animals killed.

Real Indonesian Genius (2011-04-29 03:25)

Brian Dominic, 12-year-old boy born in Kuta, Bali, Indonesia, was listed his name in the book of Guinness World Records. Brian successfully demonstrated his ability to remember 76 rows of numbers in only 60 minutes. At a record breaking event held in Bali Zoo Park, in Gianyar, Bali, August 15, 2009, representative of Asian Guinness World Records, Alex Iskandar Liew, praised Brian s ability. According to him, Brian s ability to memorize the row was very extraordinary. Such capabilities are rarely owned by the children of his age, and if anyone wanted to match or even surpass Brian s ability, he had to learn and practice for a long time. Brian Dominic admitted that he only took two months to practice remembering sequence of numbers in quick time. He practiced it three times a day. He said he would continue to practice remembering series of numbers, to be able to correct the record he made, and to prepare for the challengers. Brian targeted 104 series of number to remember since while his practicing, that was the best he ever reached. Unlike Nelson Tansu who called himself the youngest genius professor without any world recognition, Brian is recognised by Guinness World Record. Can Nelson Tansu be a bit humble when compared to a real genius? Look at this picture, Tansu try to impress young kids with his hair..

The Truth About Nelson Tansu (2011-04-29 04:29)

Nelson Tansu has been telling lies to the Indonesian news providing false and misleading statements making people think he is a genius. Here are all the lies he told: - Nelson Tansu is the youngest professor in US history A Big Lie, he just got an ASSISTANT professor at the age of 26 years old. He even lie that he was 25 years old when he got the job. (read here) Look, born in 1977, got the job in 2003, just a simple math: 2003-1977 = 26 years... not 25 years... Even has to lie that he got a job at 26 years old.. There are Many young ASSISTANT Professor in the US who are younger than 26 years old. Eric Demaine is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the world famous MIT at the age of 22 years old (http://web.mit.edu/newsoce/2003/demaine-1008.html) Alia Sabur is the worlds youngest professor at the age of 19 years recognized by Guinness World record. (http://www.aliasabur.com/) Noam Elkies become a FULL professor in Mathematics at the age of 26 at Harvard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noam Elkies) Assistant professor is a position generally after receiving PhD. Nelson Tansu is NOT a FULL professor. You can learn about dierent professors here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professor In the US, after PhD one can become an assistant professor.Nelson Tansu only dare to claim he is the youngest Professor in Indonesia. Come on Tansu, if you are the youngest professor make a claim it in the US media, not in Indonesian media. Tansu only become tenured-track when he got the job at Lehigh. Tenure is not usually given immediately to new professors. Instead, open jobs are designated eligible for tenure, or tenure-track, during the hiring process. Typically, a professor hired in a tenure-eligible position will then work for approximately ve years before a review commences to determine whether tenure will be granted. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenure #Award and tenure-track Tansu got a tenure track at 26, so with a normal process of 5 years, he got tenure at 31 years..All is just a normal process.. nothing special - Lehigh University of the world top University. Not True. Lehigh is only ranked 500 in the world http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university- rankings/2010 Meanwhile other Universities from Asia are ranked in the top 50: University of Hong Kong is ranked 23 Tokyo University is ranked 24 96

Kyoto University is ranked 25 National University of Singapore is ranked 31 The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is ranked 40 Peking University is ranked 47 Osaka University is ranked 49 Seoul National University is ranked 50 How can you call Lehigh A Top University when it is ranked 500 below many Asian universities? - Many universities in Japan aksed Nelson Tansu to return home to teach. A big Lie. As shown above 3 of Japans universities are ranked top 50 in the world. Why do they want to hire someone with ranked 500 below japan? - Tansu said his Salary is over $10,000 per month Not True. The average Assistant Professor Salary is $58,000 per year All salary of US professor is published http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professors in the United States #Salary http://www.aaup.org/NR/rdonlyres/C63FA6B1-DC6E-49E3-9C07-51D5E5EE887 E/0/Table4.pdf - Tansu published more than 200 articles Most articles are duplicate from conference proceedings and later published as a journal paper doubling the number. Tansu never write any paper anymore. Now he is only listed as last authors in all papers. - Tansu has more than 1000 citations. Most of the citations are self citations. Many research has shown Tansu manipulate citation. http://www.scribd.com/doc/52567419/ConsistentselfcitationNelsonTansu - Tansu in an Interview for Lehigh University said that only 10 % of Indonesian graduated High School and 1 % graduated in University. This is an understatement by a professor who dont know about Indonesia saying that the 230 million Indonesian people are stupid. The real estimate is; the number of university students in Indonesia is around 23 % of the population. The current number of university students are around 4.8 million (already 2 % of the population). Nelson Tansu who called himself genius, but cannot get a simple number right. - Tansu said in the same interview that his passion is teaching and will do it even without getting paid. If this is true, why Tansu dont teach in Indonesia for free? Do a bit of service to your country.

A research conducted on Scopus, the worlds academic record, revealed the consistent self citation pattern. On scopus, Ronald A. Arif has 47 publications, total 312 citations, and h index = 12. However when using exclude self citations, the total is only 66 citations, and h index = 5! can you belive this?? 246 citations or 80 % of the citation come from Tansu! The h index drop more than 50 % from 12 to 5! Pity to Ronald, he is a young scientist, but being tricked by Tansu. Tansu, you are not helping Ronalds career by doing self citation. This is really dirty of Tansu, making Ronald has 80 % of self citation, meaning no one really read his paper, only Tansu make it seems to be important. 113

Zhao Hongping Another of Tansu top student. Hongping is from Nanjing and clever in mathematics and physics. She does all the analytical calculation for Tansu, Tansu was not able to do it. But she cannot escape Tansus dirty work on self citation. Every paper by Hong Ping is lled with Tansus self citation. Lucky she escape now got a job as an Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Zhao says that perhaps the most important lesson shes learned during her PhD experience at Lehigh is this: the most important product of an academic career is not a volume of citations, journal articles or patented technologies it is about guiding and motivating students to set and achieve big goals. For proof and result, she needs only to look in the mirror. Zhao is clever enough to realise all the volume of citations from Tansu is just a fake product of self citation. Look in the mirror Tansu! Example of Tansu crime is in this papers by Hongping:

Hongping Zhao, Guangyu Liu, and Nelson Tansu. Analysis of InGaN-delta-InN quantum wells for light-emitting diodes. Appl. Phys. Lett. 97, 131114 (2010); doi:10.1063/1.3493188. This paper has 16 References to Tansu. And even more exciting, This paper is cited 4 times, all by Tansu! Zhao H., Liu G., Arif R.A., Tansu N. Current injection eciency induced eciency-droop in InGaN quantum well light-emitting diodes (2010) Solid-State Electronics, 54 (10), pp. 1119-1124. This paper has 11 references to Tansu himself. Zhao H., Arif R.A., Ee Y.-K., Tansu N. Self-cnsistent analysis of strain-compensated InGaN-AlGaN quantum wells for lasers and light-emitting diodes (2009) IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 45(1), pp. 66-78. This paper has 11 references to Tansu himself. And this paper is cited by Tansu 26 times 114

Zhao H., Arif R.A., Tansu N. Design analysis of staggered InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes at 500540 nm (2009) IEEE Journal on Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 15 (4),art. no. 5109747, pp. 1104-1114. This paper has 11 references to Tansu himself. And worse it was cited by Tansu 25 times.

Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering

(2011-05-04 03:55)

SPIE Conference held every year by The International Society for Optical Engineering to showcase the latest innovations across a wide range of technologies. However Tansu makes this as an opportunity to make lots of self citation. every year he waited for the conference and submit paper full of self citation. This is just a few examples, there are many more self citation example: Band structure calculation of dilute-As GaNAs by rst principle Li, X.-H., Tong, H., Zhao, H., Tansu, N. 2010 Proceedings of SPIE -The International Society for Optical Engineering 7597, art. no.75970H This paper cited Tansu reference: 23 times Electron-photon and electron-LO phonon intersubband scattering rates in GaN/AlN quantum wells Liu, G., Zhao, H., Tansu, N. 2010 Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7597, art. no. 75971K This paper cited Tansu reference: 14 times Abbreviated GaN metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy growth mode on nano-patterned sapphire for enhanced eciency of InGaN-based light-emitting diodes Ee, Y.-K., Li, X.-H., Biser, J., Cao, W., Chan, H.M., Vinci, R.P., Tansu, N. 2010 Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7617, art. no. 76170G This paper cited Tansu reference: 13 times Abbreviated GaN metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy growth mode on nano-patterned sapphire for enhanced eciency of InGaN-based light-emitting diodes Ee, Y.-K., Li, X.-H., Biser, J., Cao, W., Chan, H.M., Vinci, R.P., Tansu, N. 2010 Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7617, art. no. 76170G This paper cited Tansu reference: 13 times Thermal conductivity measurement of pulsed-MOVPE InN alloy grown on GaN/sapphire by 3 method Tong, H., Zhang, J., Zhao, H., Liu, G., Handara, V.A., Herbsommer, J.A., Tansu, N. 2010 Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7602, art. no. 76020U This paper cited Tansu reference: 19 times

Can you belive Tansu? he make use of the proceedings to make self citations, 15 to 20 self referencing in a paper. If he has 5 papers in the conference,he already harvested 100 citations. What a way to cheat citation volume.

Self Consistent Citation Analysis: Recent 2011 papers (2011-05-06 03:48)

Here are another Self Consistent Citation Analysis on Nelson Tansu recent papers published in 2011. This is another consistent proof of Self citations: Zhang, J., Zhao, H., Tansu, N. 2011 Gain characteristics of deep UV AlGaN quantum wells lasers Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7953, art. no. 79530H This paper has 27 References to Tansu Tansu, N., Zhao, H., Zhang, J., Liu, G., Li, X.-H., Ee, Y.-K., Song, R., (...), Huang, G.S. 2011 Novel approaches for high-eciency InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes: Device physics and epitaxy engineering Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7954, art. no. 795418 This paper has 40 References to Tansu Li, X.-H., Ee, Y.-K., Song, R., Tansu, N. 2011 Enhancement of light extraction eciency of InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes using TiO2 microsphere arrays Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7954, art. no. 79540U This paper has 27 References to Tansu Zhang, J., Tong, H., Liu, G., Herbsommer, J.A., Huang, G.S., Tansu, N. 2011 Characterizations of Seebeck coecients and thermoelectric gures of merit for AlInN alloys with various In-contents Journal of Applied Physics 109 (5), art. no. 053706 This paper has 17 References to Tansu 117

Wow.. Tansu loves himself so much that he cite himself 20 to 40 times in a paper! He is the worlds youngest self citation professor in the history.

Sai Baba (2011-05-06 04:25)

Sathya Sai Baba was said to be endowed with many magical powers, including the ability to save the terminally ill, produce sacred ash and foresee his own death in his 96th year. Worshipped as a god by his followers but tainted by allegations of sex abuse, Sai Baba died aged 85 on Sunday in his hometown of Puttaparthi due to heart failure. Born as Sathya Narayana Raju to a modest family in southeastern Andhra Pradesh, he claimed to be the reincarnation of a popular Hindu holy man from western India called Sai Baba of Shirdi who died eight years before his birth. Legend has it that as a boy he was bitten by a scorpion some accounts say a snake and that afterwards he developed powers to conjure up objects such as sweets or jewelry and speak languages he had never learnt. From his ashram in the tiny village of Puttaparthi, he built an empire of schools, hospitals and centers that spread his inuence worldwide and brought him followers from the highest levels of society. He counted former Indian prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, judges, actors, generals and politicians as devotees, as well as Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and Hollywood star Goldie Hawn. One of his biggest nancial supporters was the former owner of the Hard Rock Cafe chain of restaurants, Isaac Burton Tigrett, who went to live in Puttaparthi and donated much of his fortune to the Sai Baba trust. Always dressed in saron-coloured robes with his trademark afro-style hairdo, the guru had several earlier irtations with death. In 1993, four men armed with knives burst into his private apartment in what was described as an assassination attempt. A ght ensued in which two devotees were stabbed to death before police shot and killed the assailants. Providing free health care and performing an occasional miracle cure was a central part of the image and mystique built around a man whose ock is thought to number tens of millions across more than 150 countries. Backed with cash donations from wealthy believers, the Sai Baba organization has built a state-of-the-art hospital in Puttaparthi and another near the southern city of Bangalore. It also operates drinking water schemes, a university, a museum, a planetarium and prayer rooms and centres across the globe. The organization s assets are estimated in the Indian press to be anywhere from 400 billion to 1.5 trillion rupees ( $9 billion to $34 billion), but the source of these gures is unclear. There are no nancial accounts publicly available. While the charitable work and teachings brought him public respectability, his showman antics in which he would materialise gold coins or watches on stage at public meetings brought him fame and notoriety. The half-kilo (one pound) of sacred ash he was said to materialise each day was thought by believers to have 119

healing properties. Throughout his life he was pursued by Indian rationalists. One magician, P.C. Sorcar, once went on tour to debunk his tricks and apparent miracles. He is no godman. He is not even a good magician, Sorcar scoed. He is so clumsy that he is spoiling the name of all magicians. There were more serious allegations, too, of pedophilia and abuse. In 2004, the BBC aired the Secret Swami documentary in which several former American followers recounted abuse at his hands. The son of a couple that ran a center in Arkansas in midwestern America told how Sai Baba allegedly took him aside as a teenager and then massaged his genitals with oil before kissing him on the mouth. The allegations were strongly denied by the Sai Baba organization and other legal cases, accounts of suicides and claims of abuse did little to dent his popularity. And for his followers, there is hope: he forecast his own reincarnation eight years after his death.

Sai Baba vs Nelson Tansu (2011-05-07 17:34)

Sai Baba and Nelson Tansu is comparable as they both like to be famous and making false fake claims. Sai Baba claimed to be the reincarnation of a God, while Tansu claimed to be the youngest professor. Sai Baba said he was endowed with many magical powers, including the ability to save the terminally ill, produce sacred ash. Nelson Tansu said he has published hundreds papers and thousands of citations. But all is just fake self citation. Sai Baba was worshipped as a god by his followers, Nelson Tansu wanted to be worshiped as well so he told all the Indonesia news that he is a genius and youngest professor, Tansu was worshipped as a god of science in Indonesia news. But Tansu dont realize spreading fake stories and lies will send you to hell.

Nelson Tansu Self Proclaimed Youngest professor (2011-05-07 17:46)

Nelson Tansu proclaimed to the Indonesian media that he is the youngest professor in the history. Nelson Tansu has been telling lies and making false claims to the Indonesian news, making people think he is a genius. See all these websites from Indonesia (There are hundreds of them): http://www.internationalyouthempowerment.org/index.php?option=com content &view=article &id=10 %3Aadmin &catid=4 %3Aadmin &Itemid=18 &lang=en http://indotraveltips.blogspot.com/2010/04/nelson-tansu-youngest-ame rican.html http://goodnewsfromindonesia.org/2010/05/03/this-very-young-professo r-is-indonesian/ http://politic2011.blogspot.com/2011/04/this-is-youngest-professor-i n-america.html http://www.medanku.com/youngest-professor-from-medan/ He is a self proclaimed youngest professor. Tansu just got an ASSISTANT professor at the age of 26 years old. He even lie that he was 25 years old when he got the job. (read here) Look, born in 1977, got the job in 2003, just a simple math: 2003-1977 = 26 years... not 25 years... Even a 5 year old boy kid know about his age.. How come a professor cannot do simple subtraction? Assistant professor is a position generally after receiving PhD. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenure #Award and tenure-track Tansu got a tenure track at 26, so with a normal process of 5 years, he got tenure at 31 years..All is just a normal process.. nothing special The worlds youngest professor is Alia Sabur becomes a professor at the age of 19 years recognized by Guinness World record. (http://www.aliasabur.com/) 122

There are Many young ASSISTANT Professor in the US who are even younger than 26 years old. For example: Eric Demaine is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the world famous MIT at the age of 22 years old (http://web.mit.edu/newsoce/2003/demaine-1008.html) Eric doesnt even called himself the youngest professor. Jonathan Thio also a young Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech http://www.mse.gatech.edu/faculty-sta/faculty/yonathan-thio Yonathan also got a BS in 1998 and PhD in 2003. He never boasted that he is the youngest professor Here are the real genius Charles Feerman entered college at the age of 12 at the University of Maryland, published his rst academic paper at the age of 15. He earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Princeton and became a FULL professor of mathematics at the University of Chicago by 22. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles Feerman Terence Tao born in 1975 earned his Ph.D. from Princeton at the age of 21 and became an Assistant professor at UCLA at the age of 21. UCLA promoted him to a FULL professor of mathematics at the age of 24. http://www.math.ucla.edu/ tao/ Noam Elkies become a FULL professor in Mathematics at the age of 26 at Harvard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noam Elkies) Dr. Tathagat Avtar Tulsi, from India, becomes an assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Technology at Powai in Bombay at the age of 22. http://www.allindianewssite.com/7793/tulsi-the-youngest-professor-of -iit-bombay-at-22 There are so many real genius in the world, read here, and Tansu is not one of them There is a website listing the Young Exceptionally Gifted Students, Read here Tansu is not one of them http://yegs.org/yegs-hall-of-fame-main-page/ Here is a list if child prodigies, the real genius, Tansu is not one of them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List of child prodigies Meanwhile Nelson Tansu only became an ASSISTANT professor at the age of 26 years. Assistant professor is a position generally after receiving PhD. And now he is only just an ASSOCIATE professor at the age of 33 years old. He is NOT a FULL professor. You can learn about dierent professors here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professor In the US, there are so many young professors, after getting a PhD one can become an assistant professor.

Tansu also boasted that he managed to get the assistant professor after eliminating 300 candidates. Can you belive there are 300 candidates for a specialized job in Electrical and Computer Engineering? How many days it will take to interview 300 candidates? More than 3 months!! 123

Unless all of the candidates are idiots?? Tansu claims that Lehigh University of the world top University. This is a false claim, Not True. Lehigh is only ranked 500 in the world http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university- rankings/2010 Meanwhile other Universities from Asia are ranked in the top 50: University of Hong Kong is ranked 23 Tokyo University is ranked 24 Kyoto University is ranked 25 National University of Singapore is ranked 31 The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is ranked 40 Peking University is ranked 47 Osaka University is ranked 49 Seoul National University is ranked 50 How can you call Lehigh A Top University when it is ranked 500 below many Asian universities? Tansu also claims that many universities in Japan aksed Nelson Tansu to return home to teach. A big Lie. As shown above 3 of Japans universities are ranked top 50 in the world. Why do they want to hire someone with ranked 500 below japan?

Tansu said his Salary is over $10,000 per month Not True. The average Assistant Professor Salary is $58,000 per year All salary of US professor is published http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professors in the United States #Salary http://www.aaup.org/NR/rdonlyres/C63FA6B1-DC6E-49E3-9C07-51D5E5EE887 E/0/Table4.pdf

Tansu claims he has published more than 200 articles Most articles are duplicate from conference proceedings and later published as a journal paper doubling the number. Tansu never write any paper anymore. Now he is only listed as last authors in all papers. Tansu claims he has more than 1000 citations. Most of the citations are self citations. Many research has shown Tansu manipulate citation. http://www.scribd.com/doc/52567419/ConsistentselfcitationNelsonTansu 124

Tansu in an Interview for Lehigh University said that only 10 % of Indonesian graduated High School and 1 % graduated in University. Tansu also claimed in the same interview that his passion is teaching and will do it even without getting paid. If this is true, why Tansu dont teach in Indonesia for free? Do a bit of service to your country.

III Nitride Photonics (2011-05-16 04:30)

Nelson Tansu was invited to write a review paper for IEEE PHOTONICS JOURNAL last year. Tansu is very proud of this achivement. However he sees this as an opportunity to harvest and make as many self citation as he can make. He really want to nail it hard. The journal asked Tansu to write a review on somebody elses achivement, but Tansu cant help it to write about himself. He is desperate for fame and need a large volume of self citation. This time he hit is with 31 self referencing in this paper. Title: III-Nitride Photonics Author(s): Tansu Nelson ; Zhao Hongping ; Liu Guangyu ; et al. Source: IEEE PHOTONICS JOURNAL Volume: 2 Issue: 2 Pages: 241-248 DOI: 10.1109/JPHOT.2010.2045887 Published: APR 2010 31 self references to Tansu

The record by Tansu is 40 self citation in a paper. See the world record self citation paper http://whatisgenius.blogspot.com/2011/05/new-paper-by-nelson- tansu.html This paper is the 2nd highest record. Well Done. Another 31 self citations to increase his h-index.

The South Korean pop star turned actor Rain, 28, took the top spot in the TIME 100 reader poll for the third year, trouncing competitors from Barack Obama to Lady Gaga. Thats pretty impressive online power for a guy whose main claim to Western fame is a role in the 2009 lm Ninja Assassin. Born in 1982, Jung Ji-Hoon, the star adopted his stage name for the release of his rst record, Bad Guy, 2002.

Dr Takeshi Kanno (2011-05-17 04:13)

Takeshi Kanno is selected as 2011 Time 100. He always knew he would save lives in his line of work but never as many at one time as he did on March 11. The 31-year-old doctor was on duty at the Shizugawa public hospital in the Japanese town of Minami Sanriku when he heard the tsunami alert. He immediately began moving patients to the highest oor, helping dozens of people in the short window between the 9.0magnitude quake and the deadly wave. When the wall of water arrived, Kanno watched it swallow the street in three minutes, taking the patients he couldnt move with it. We went downstairs, and everyone was gone, he says. Over the next two days, Kanno refused to leave those hed helped survive. When evacuation helicopters arrived, he waited until the last of his patients had gone before he too left. Three days after the quake, he at last made it back to his wife, just hours before the birth of their second child, a boy they named Rei. The name evokes two meanings: in English, a beam of light; in Chinese and Japanese, the wisdom to overcome hardship.

Amy Chua (2011-05-17 04:14)

Amy Chua, 48, started a restorm when she published her memoir, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother. When an entire nation reacts so strongly to something, you know you have hit a nerve. And Amy did. She hit us where it hurts, questioning our parenting, our kids educational achievement and our nations ability to compete globally in todays world. Unlike the excerpt that appeared in the Wall Street Journal, titled (not by her) Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior, Amys book is a nuanced story of how her parenting had to evolve to take into account the dierences between her children. Parenting is hard and humbling for all of us. If there were a right way to raise your kids, everyone would do it. Clearly thats not the case. In China, this book is being marketed as a tale about the importance of giving children more Western freedom. Few have the guts to parent in public. Amys memoir is brutally honest, and her willingness to share her struggles is a gift. Whether or not you agree with her priorities and approach, she should be applauded for raising these issues with a thoughtful, humorous and authentic voice. And by the way, Ive met her daughters. They are both phenomenal.

Lehigh Ranking (2011-05-19 03:47)

Welcome, we are Only ranked #100 in USA and #792 in the world Nelson Tansu is very proud of his university and claims that Lehigh University of the world top University and a top university in the US. (read all about it here http://sahuri.wordpress.com/2010/08/22/prof-nelsontansu-ph-d/ ) Lets see Lehigh Ranking in the US: Here is the US ranking according to US News & World Report in year 2010 http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-scho ols/top-science-schools/lehigh-university-213543 For graduate school: #195 in Biological Science #123 in Chemistry #99 in Computer Science (this is where tansu work) So how can you call it a Top US University when the ranking is below 100? How about in the world.. Lehigh is only ranked 500-800 in the world: According to Top University Ranking, Lehigh is #500 http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university- rankings/2010 Meanwhile other Universities from Asia are ranked in the top 50: University of Hong Kong is ranked 23 Tokyo University is ranked 24 Kyoto University is ranked 25 National University of Singapore is ranked 31 The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is ranked 40 Peking University is ranked 47 Osaka University is ranked 49 Seoul National University is ranked 50 How can you call Lehigh A Top University when it is ranked 500 below many Asian universities? Real Genius in Semiconductor (2011-05-19 04:10)

Nelson Tansu claims he is the world famous expert and genius in semiconductor, nanotechnology & photonics. But who knows him outside his own campus?? No one really.. he is just a genius in his own world. Here is the real genius and world famous expert in this area is Shuji Nakamura, a japanese scientist working in the US. He is the rst one who invented blue LED. Shuji Nakamura (-Q , born May 22, 1954 in Ikata, Ehime, Japan) is a professor at the Materials Department of the College of Engineering, University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Nakamura graduated from the University of Tokushima in 1977 with a degree in electronic engineering, and obtained a masters degree in the same subject two years later, after which he joined the Nichia Corporation, also based in Tokushima. It was while working for Nichia that Nakamura invented the rst high brightness GaN LED whose brilliant blue light, when partially converted to yellow by a phosphor coating, is the key to white LED lighting, and which went into production in 1993. In 1993 and 1995, he developed the rst group-III nitride-based blue/green LEDs. He also developed the rst group-III nitride-based violet laser diodes (LDs) in 1995. Nakamura has also worked on green and white LEDs, and blue laser diodes, which are used in Blu-ray Discs and HD DVDs See the real genius: http://sslec.ucsb.edu/nakamura/index.html He is featured in world-class Time magazine (not like Tansu who just boast at local Indonesian paper) http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1604891,00.html Tansu, make another claim (read all about it here http://sahuri.wordpress.com/2010/08/22/prof-nelsontansu-ph-d/ ) that because his name sound Japanese, Japanese universities are asking him to return home to teach. What a lots of nonsense. The world famous expert in laser and LED is Nakamura, a Japanese. Why do someone want to ask this self proclaimed genius to go back to Japan?

Here it is the superstar from Medan.. The self-proclaimed Youngest Professor in the Universe. Paying a visit to his High School Sutomo. Tansu likes to be worshipped as a god. Giving a lecture Dream Your Future ... how to become the youngest professor and self proclaimed fake genius. Please dont teach this young students how to fake the fact. The people from Medan of course dont know hes just giving them bullshit, lies, fake truth, and twisting the truth. Tansu is a self proclaimed youngest professor. Tansu said he become youngest professor at age 25. Here is a simple math: Tansu born in 1977, got a job in 2003, just a simple math: 2003-1977 = 26 years... not 25 years... Record of Self Citation by the Youngest Professor (2011-05-21 05:01)

Here is the world record in Self Citation by the self proclaimed Youngest Professor.. The paper is called: Novel approaches for high-eciency InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes: Device physics and epitaxy engineering. It is a conference paper published by Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering Tansu, N., Zhao, H., Zhang, J., Liu, G., Li, X.-H., Ee, Y.-K., Song, R., Huang, G.S. 2011 Novel approaches for high-eciency InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes: Device physics and epitaxy engineering Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7954, art. no. 795418 And guess how many times Tansu cite himself in this paper? This paper has 40 References to Tansu himself. Congratulations, this is a new record, Can you belive this, Tansu cite himself 40 times in a paper! This must be a record for the youngest professor .. No wonder, Tansu can collect so many citations, if he cite himself 40 times in a paper, after just 5 papers, he already has 200 citations. What a way to manipulate h index. 137

Look at this diagram from the latest research paper here. This diagram show Tansu activity of self citation (fake citation). The green line is the self citation curve. The fake citation is increasing every year. This mean the citation of his paper is only by himself. And citation by other people is decreasing every year (Red Line). His publication is not important anymore.. This is characteristic of Tansu: want to be famous and noticed,so he keep citing himself 40 times in a paper, making fake citation. Can you believe this joker.. making false claims, make fake citation and cheating in the name of getting famous. Tansu has reported the best threshold in self citation by continuous and self consistent citation. The criteria for high-performance self citation, says Tansu, include low operating cost, high eciency, the ability to cite yourself at high speeds at a short period of time.

What is Self Citation? Nelson Tansu like to cite himself (2011-05-21 19:54)

Here is the recent research in the psychology than can explain the weird behavior of this youngest professor in the universe. Scientists report their research output in the form of papers, or books, so it can also be used by other scientists to inform subsequent research, inuence policy decisions, and improve research. In a publication, the authors make reference and cite previous work. The reference and citations are meant to help reader and acknowledge previous nding. However there is a scientist (self-proclaimed Youngest Professor) who consistently and deliberately refer to his own work when he is supposedly to refer readers to the relevant literature. Self citation is a well-known phenomena in social psychology, it is a self-serving bias motivated by self-enhancement and self-promotion. Self-citation is a trick used to enhance ones own reputation and is clearly unacceptable in science. It distorts science and the process of science and is personally damaging to individuals in less powerful positions or those who do not engage in that practice. So Nelson Tansu indulge himself in biased self-citation practices not because his own papers are of any use to the science and reader, but because its a self indulgence and self-promotion.It is a dirty trick that is called malpractice and unacceptable Read the psychology of this http://bps-research-digest.blogspot.com/2011/04/psychologists-like-t o-cite-themselves.html http://www.lymeneteurope.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7 &t=3245 Self citation increases the number of citations Tansu papers. This is stupid, but in some realms, it matters because one want to be famous. This is a stupid promotional trick played by Tansu

How to increase your paper citation in one sentence

In a normal world, a scientists report their research output in the form of papers, so it can be used by other scientists to inform ndings from research. In a publication, the authors make reference and cite previous work. The reference and citations are meant to help reader and acknowledge previous nding. However there is a self-proclaimed Youngest Professor who consistently and deliberately refers to his own work when he is supposedly to refer readers only to relevant literature. This trick is so called Self Citation, which is a well-known phenomena in social psychology, a form of self indulgence, motivated by self-enhancement and self-promotion. Self-citation is a trick used by Tansu to increase his citation volume, enhance his reputation and is clearly unacceptable in science. Let s look at some evidence and you can judge if this form of self citation is justiable or just for increasing citation volume. This is a recent paper published in Journal of Applied Physics in March 2011.

Now let s read the rst sentence, and look at the reference! Is there a particular reason why in the rst few words you need 19 references on light emitting diodes? And in the full sentence you need 26 references? I am not a scientist, but isn t this is weird and ackward?? Why you need 19 references on light emitting diodes? I tell you now, the reason is of course can be found when you look at the reference list (gure below), because reference 1 until 24 has papers written by Tansu. I have highlighted all Tansu in the reference. Unbelievable right? Almost all have Tansu as author. Can you now see what is meant by self citation? Self citation is deliberately citing your own work even if it is not really relevant to the paper and with the intention to increase citation volume. This is how you increase citation index. The rst sentence you cite as much as possible your own paper, even if it is not relevant. Download the full paper here and read the best self citation paper. Even I am not a scientist, I nd it a strange sentence, and wonder why Tansu need to have 19 references to light emitting diodes (LED). Now I show you the hard evidence is the dirty trick of self citation. More examples to follow. Tansu has reported the best self citation threshold in Journal Applied Physics. Towards 20 self citation per paper. The criteria for high-performance self citation, says Tansu, include low operating cost, high eciency, the ability to cite yourself at high speeds at a short period of time. 141

Self citation in Applied Physics Letters (2011-05-27 05:23)

Applied Physics Letters (APL) is a journal published by the American Institute of Physics, features concise, up-to-date reports on signicant new ndings in applied physics. It is a weekly journal featuring concise, up-to-date reports on signicant new ndings in applied physics However this paper by Tansu is published in Applied Physics Letters April 2011 has a dirty trick. Read the rst sentence, why you need 11 references to LED, and 17 references in the rst sentence. Look at the reference list. The evidence is clear, this is guilty as sin. Deliberately citing own work, even if it is not relevant. Who write the rst sentence in a paper with 17 references to himself? This is the trick by Tansu to get many self citations. Tansu is yet to report the best self citation values. Download the full paper here and read the large self citation gain. The criteria for high-performance self citation, says Tansu, include low operating cost, high eciency, the ability to cite yourself at high speeds at a very short period of time. The accomplishments by Tansu have the potential to lead to the rapid increase in h index, capable of gaining 40 citations per paper. Tansu is one of the rst to realize high-performance self citation can increase h index rapidly. Tansu achieved a high h index through his breakthrough in self citation record. 143

What is a Professor? (2011-05-28 15:52)

According to Urban Dictionary http://www.urbandictionary.com/dene.php?term=professor Professor is a person who thinks they are so much smarter than everyone else in the world. Professor is A nerd with a giant ego. A freaky looking person who spends hours, because they get paid, trying to convince you of the neccessity to read and understand weird stu. Someone who talks in someone elses sleep. Professors are self-proclaimed intellectuals who are failures in the professional world. Well, all that description ts Tansu very well Whatever you say Professor. While the supposed job description of a professor entails teaching, in actuality most professors know absolutely nothing about teaching. However, many professors will not hesitate to take a students tuition money, not teach him anything, and then test him on what he was never taught. The other main activity of a professor is embezzling money (that could have been spent on useful things) for their own research. Usually, this research involves topics that nobody outside of academia will ever care about or nd a practical application for. Take solace in the fact that your professors earn a miserable salary in proportion to the level of education they have attained. Professor Tansu appropriated $100,000 to research if the poor performance of his class was due to his own incompetence. The results were inconclusive.

Penelitian Terbaru: Bagaimana meningkatkan kutipan Makalah Anda dengan cepat. (2011-05-29 00:18)

Kisah Nyata Nelson Tansu (2011-05-29 00:46)

What and How to do Self Citation? (2011-05-31 02:59)

Nelson Tansu received Self Citation Award from SMA Sutomo. In order to understand the behavior of Nelson Tansu who like to self citation, I have to consult scientic literature. I can now report to you. I confess, I dont write all of this, this is taken from a famous FASEB Journal and a book: http://www.fasebj.org/content/20/8/1039.full http://www.gareld.library.upenn.edu/ci/chapter10.pdf I make an interpretation on how Tansu make the self citation. The number of citations to publications of an author is now considered by the academic community as one of the most important indices of performance in research. This is because the number of citations to previous publications of a specic author is thought to represent recognition of his work and to be an estimate of the total impact of scientic work that in some respects incorporates both the quality and the quantity of the produced research. This index together with the total number and average impact factor of publications of a scientist are frequently taken under serious consideration (among other factors) in the selection process of faculty recruitment for various academic positions. E.g. Tansu use his citation volume to report his success and apply for faculty promotion and funding from NSF. A malpractice related to the total number of citations that is criticized by members of the scientic community is that of self-citation of previous work of authors of papers published in scientic journals. The citations to the author s own work is called self citation, the Germans call this Eigenlob, or self-praise. It may be considered reasonable for an author to refer to a limited number of his previous work, especially if the publications are the result of a series of consecutive eorts in a specic research eld. This is particularly relevant in the case of referring to previous publications that include a reported methodology also used in a new study. However, the practice of self-citation is sometimes overused, some say abused, by a proportion of authors, especially Tansu. Theoretically, self- citations are a way of manipulating citation rates. On the other hand, the practice of citing oneself is also both common and reasonable. Studies show that usually 10 % of all citations are selfcitations. Meanwhile in Tansu Group, the self citation is bigger than 50 %. The self citation of Nelson Tansu is 52 %. Self-citation to inate a citation count is rather obvious. A person attempting to do this would have to publish very frequently to make any dierence. This is exactly what Tansu did. Given the refereeing system that controls the quality of the scientic literature in the better known journals, the high publication count could be achieved only if the person had a lot to say that was at least marginally signicant. This precisely describes Tansu motive. As shown in my previous research, Tansu do a lot of self citation in famous Journal 155

of Applied Physics and Applied Physics Letter. Tansu also have a self citation party in Proceedings of SPIE. This is done by quoting self citation rapidly in the rst sentence of the paper. The combination of a long bibliography of papers published in journals (e.g. 10-40 self citation in a paper by Tansu) and an abnormally high self-citation count (50-80 %) would make the intent so obvious that anyone can spot on it. This low strategy of Tansu is so obvious that you can spot it.

Mengapa Nelson Tansu bisa sukses? (2011-05-31 04:30)

Mengapa Nelson Tansu suka memanjakan diri? (2011-05-31 04:35)

Ronald A. Arif

makalahnya, hanya Tansu membuatnya tampaknya menjadi penting. Zhao Hongping Mantan mahasiswa Tansu. Appl. Phys. Lett. 97, 131114 (2010); DOI: 10.1063/1.3493188. Makalah ini memiliki 16 Referensi Tansu sendiri! Zhao H., Liu G., Arif RA, Tansu N. (2010) Solid-State Electronics, 54 (10), hal 1119-1124. Makalah ini memiliki 11 referensi ke Tansu sendiri. Update from SPIE conference self citation (2011-06-06 14:54)

Self citation in SPIE conference proceedings Connecting citations. Increasing h index

SPIE is the international society for optics and photonics. SPI hold conferences every year throughout USA. SPIE also published conference proceedings. The paper in the proceedings does not have a strict limit on the number of references. And scientists like to play trick on that. Particularly the youngest professor Nelson Tansu have chance to gain many self citation. Let s look at this year s SPIE Photonics West Conference in January in San Francisco. I was there as well, not a brilliant weather at that time of the year. Here is a comic of the professor going to SPIE.

Here is the reality Tansu presented 6 papers this year, and let s look at the number of self citation: Novel approaches for high-eciency InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes: Device physics and epitaxy engineering Tansu, N., Zhao, H., Zhang, J., Liu, G., Li, X.-H., Ee, Y.-K., Song, R., Huang, G.S. 2011 Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7954, art. no. 795418 This paper has 40 self references to Tansu 195

Wow.. can you belive that? 40 self citation in a paper. This must be a world record in self citation. Tansu reported the best threshold in self citation. Zhang, J., Zhao, H., Tansu, N. 2011 Gain characteristics of deep UV AlGaN quantum wells lasers Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7953, art. no. 79530H This paper has 27 self references to Tansu Enhancement of light extraction eciency of InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes using TiO2 microsphere arrays Li, X.-H., Ee, Y.-K., Song, R., Tansu, N. 2011 Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering 7954, art. no. 79540U This paper has 27 self references to Tansu

Thermoelectric properties of MOCVD-grown AlInN alloys with various compositions Zhang, J.,Tong, H., Liu, G., Herbsommer, J.A., Huang, G.S., Tansu, N. 2011 Proceedings of SPIE - TheInternational Society for Optical Engineering 7939, art. no. 79390O This paper has 27 self references to Tansu Cathodoluminescence characteristics of linearly shaped staggered InGaN quantum wells light-emitting diodes Zhao, H., Zhang, J., Liu, G., Toma, T., Poplawsky, J.D., Dierolf, V., Tansu, N.2011 Proceedings of SPIE The International Society for Optical Engineering 7939, art. no.793905 This paper has 27 self references to Tansu Analysis of thermoelectric properties of AlInN semiconductor alloys Zhang, J., Tong, H.,Herbsommer, J.A., Tansu, N. 2011 Proceedings of SPIE - The International Society for OpticalEngineering 7933, art. no. 79330X This paper has 28 self references to Tansu Tansu really nail it hard this year, he got 170 citations from a single SPIE conference. Can you imagine that? 176 self citation from just 6 papers This is how to get the most citation in as little time as possible. Tansu denitely gain a large self citation. This citation gain characteristic is so strong that Tansu reported the best threshold in self citation, ever! World s fastest self citation record. Towards 200 self citations per SPIE conference.

Why Nelson Tansu like to do self citation? (2011-06-09 23:25)

After doing a lot of research, I can report to you now why Tansu like to cite himself so much.

The rst reason is Tansu is a struggling scientist

202

This graph from a research paper shows that the citation index for Tansu is falling rapidly every year since 2005. So Tansu is panicked and start increase self citation since 2007.

This cartoon tells it all

The second reason is Tansu is self obsessed and self indulgence. 203

Tansu likes to be worshiped, so he cannot help to keep citing himself so he looks important. This is an egoist behavior and psychological problem of people having no security. He wants to be in the media all the time.

204

Can I have your self citation please?

Scopus Analysis (2011-06-15 23:51)

This professor of self citation nally admits he has been doing a lot of self citation in his CV. tansu is like a small kid, when caught stealing, they preted to say it is a common thing. In the latest CV of Prof. Nelson Tansu (dated May 2011), he wrote as if self citation is a common thing. But he also lies!

Is that true, based on Scopus his h index is 14 inch with no self citation? We do our own investigation... CSI in action In Scopus we identify our target criminal, FOUND!

In Scopus, it said Tansu only has 157 publications, with: Conference Paper (94), Journal Article (61), Editorial (1), Review (1). So altogether only 61 journal articles. The rest are just conference paper. Tansu tells likes again, he said he has 70+ journal papers, in fact only 61! Here is the citation analysis with self citation: 206

With self citation, tansu has 1252 citations, and h index = 21 inches (a big one for a small man). But now here is the analysis excluding self citation 207

Now you see, Without self citation, Tansu only has 539 citations, and h index = 12 inches. Tansu is caught lying again: In his CV, he wrote, without self citation the ciation is 650+ and h index = 14 inches! So Total self citation is 731, or 57 %. Meaning that 57 % of the citation all come from tansu himself. Cheating and inating his own citation volume. It is a scientifc misconduct!

Here is the lastest research graph, what does it show? Each bar is the citation received by each paper. The blue color is the citation received fro other people, the red color is the citation made by Tansu himself. You can see more than half of the bar has red color. Meaning Tansu make up all his self citation. Another proof you cannot deny. 208

209

Ambition, fame, and fortune drive this youngest professor to become a celebrity in Indonesia. But deep inside, Nelson Tansu holds a dirty secret that no one knows until now... He is a self-indulgence professor, who loves getting attention and the media.

In this carefully researched unofficial biography, the author carefully finds evidence of self citation and reveals the dirty work of this self-proclaimed professor.

The authors also cleverly mixed serious business with comics and current popular figures, such as Miyabi, that made this book entertaining to read. I highly recommend to anyone
