y Before beginning therapy, assess for conditions that may be contraindications to therapy, especially: o GI lesions or peptic ulcer disease

o Bleeding disorders y Assess patient s condition before therapy and regularly thereafter to monitor drug effectiveness. y Assess also for conditions that require cautious use. y Assess patient s hypersensitivity to drug. o -Obtain accurate history of drug allergies. Drug can produce allergiclike reactions in patients hypersensitivity to other NSAIDs. y Monitor for possible drug induced adverse reactions: Post-op anemia, hypokalemia, agitation, insomnia, hypoesthesia, HTN, hypotension, pharyngitis, resp insufficiency, alveolar osteitis, dyspepsia, flatulence, pruritis, back pain, arthralgia, oliguria, peripheral edema, increased blood creatinine. y Provide further comfort measures to reduce pain (positioning, environmental control), and to reduce inflammation (warmth, positioning, rest). y Monitor for therapeutic effects, which vary according to he condition being treated: o Decrease in swelling, pain, stiffness, and tenderness of a joint or a muscle ares
