To Enable Read-Only Mode: 1. Shutdown the Drobo. Answer Title: How do I safely shut down my Drobo?

3. Power up the Drobo with drives ejected.

4. Dashboard has a special key sequence to enable Read-Only mode.


CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-R toggles between set/unset of Read-Only mode. When the key strokes are entered correctly, the following message will pop up.

Click [ OK ]

5. Once the settings are changed, the Drobo Dashboard will prompt for reboot of the unit.
Wait for this message to pop up. It sometimes comes up behind other windows, so check the Status bar for a flashing icon, or close the other open windows on the desk top.

Click [ Reboot Drobo now ]

7. Reinsert the disk pack.

8. Power up the Drobo with the drives inserted.


If the Drobo stays up then begin copying off data in small portions. Do not write to or delete any data from the Drobo.

10. To unset the Drobo and take it out of Read-Only mode, repeat steps 4 and 5.
