Cloning DCLONE by SMO (SnapManager for Oracle)

1) Pre-SMO a. Backup (copy) initDCLONE.ora to initDCLONE_DATE.ora b. Shutdown abort and restart the database. i. In order to avoid any locking by any processes from TOAD etc. c. Delete initDCLONE.ora (otherwise SMO will throw errors) d. Check whether LISTENER (port :1522)process is running or not i. [osmo@oradgdca01 ~]$ ps -eaf|grep LISTENER e. Check database SMO is running or not. f. Log off from dev-erpdca01 (DCLONE DB node); ensure no one is connected to the DB node while SMO session is running. 2) Shutdown all Application services (adstpall.sh apps/xxx) from dev-erpdca02 3) Invoke SMO in back ground. a. Start VNC session with root user b. In root s VNC session type the following. i. [root@dev-erpdca01 ~]#smogui & A pre-defined repository smo@SMO/oradgdca01:1522 is created which has the following two profiles Profiles: ASCP_PROFILE ERP_DG_PROFILE (used for DCLONE).

Expand the repository (smo@SMO/oradgdca01:1522)->Profile (ERP_DG_PROFILE) -> Backups (DRPOD_BACKUP_April_21)-> Clone (DCLONE).

Delete the previous clone (DCLONE)

Clone deletion step takes about 45mins to 1hour. It shutdowns the database, deletes all the database files. (This step may fail if any one logged into deverpdca01 and is present in the mount points of the database fails.)

After successfully deleting the clone, delete the previous backup.

Create Backup (DRPOD_BACKUP_03May11) This step takes the image of DPROD database and uses the snap in the following step to clone the database.
