Alay Trend, Interesting or Cheesy?

Some teenagers in Indonesia called alay by other teenagers. They considered as alay from their habitual in writing. These teens write in informal and unusual form in SMS or social networking websites (such as Friendster or Facebook) by adding or deleting some letters, abbreviating some words, changing letters into numbers, placing capital letters in inappropriate, and so on. For example, they write LiK3 d1zZz,, or lYK Th3eEze !!. In fact, that kind of writing has begun since SMS and social networking sites were booming. First, changing letters into numbers used for making a word to be shorten like changing see you later into cu l8r. For these alay teens, writing in usual form is boring. They believe that by writing in alay form, the text looks more interesting, even cute. In spite of interesting, the other teenagers think that is cheesy and confusing. They call that teenagers as alay, insult them, and laugh at their writing. Besides, some of these teens who considered themselves as not alay admit that they were doing the same thing, writing in alay form. The difference is they stop doing it earlier. So, is alay trend interesting or cheesy? It depends on how you see it. But the point is stop insulting them because they are human too. Someday they will find that its not interesting anymore and laugh at it, like us.
