Tan Tao University, Vietnam, seeks a Dean of the School of Engineering, one of three Schools that will open when the university enrolls students in September 2011. Tan Tao is a new non-profit private university, located west of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. TTU seeks to achieve a high international standard with education on a United States model. Teaching is in English. While our first students will be undergraduates, TTU will evolve into a graduate and research university. The faculty will come from Vietnam and from many other countries. The Engineering building now under construction will include research laboratories for faculty. An advanced IT system will serve the entire campus. The Dean of the School of Engineering, reporting to the Provost, will be responsible for all aspects of the School and its development, including recruitment of faculty, research, curriculum, and faculty development and evaluation. Since TTU is a new university, we seek a Dean with energy, skill in organizing, and the ability to motivate faculty and to create a strong culture of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates should have the rank of full or associate professor, a doctorate in engineering, and demonstrated ability in academic administration and university development. International experience, particularly experience in Asia, is desirable.
