-20-30/100,000 boys -Proximal Muscle Weakness Etiology:
-absence of a large protein called Dystrophin

-associated with the muscle fiber plasma membrane

Becker Muscular Dystrophy -Also Proximal Muscle Weakness

Etiology:
-Abnormality in the same gene locus -Results in the presence of Dystrophin

-Abnormal in either amount or molecular structure -Same clinical symptoms as Duchenne dystrophy, but
onset is later and progression is slower.
