POSITION: Artspace Projects is seeking a Research Intern for an approximately twomonth assignment. Specific responsibilities include: 1. Assemble a bibliography of research conducted on issues related to space for the arts, creative placemaking, and the economic/community impact of the arts 2. Provide a summary/key findings of essential research 3. Develop database of key players in the field of creative placemaking 4. Identify and profile emerging arts-driven development projects around the country ABOUT ARTSPACE: Over the last 30 years, Artspace has led an accelerating national movement to build better communities through the arts. While embracing the value the arts bring to individual lives, Artspace has championed the once radical idea that artists living on the edge of poverty and chronically underfunded arts organizations can leverage transformative social change. A generation later, leaders across disciplines are recognizing that the arts can advance public agendas from job creation and transit-oriented development to cultural and historic preservation. But there is often a gap between can and how. The arts can build social equity, but how is this achieved, especially in our most destabilized, marginalized communities? Artspace brings the proven expertise necessary to create sustainable, affordable spaces for the arts that catalyze positive, community-wide change. Having worked successfully in communities large and small from coast to coast, Artspace is the national leader in the field of creative placemaking. Our 29 completed arts facilities in 19 communities provide affordable live/work space for more than 1,000 artist families as well as affordable space for 300 arts organizations, arts entrepreneurs, and small businesses. Our portfolio, driven by a robust, diverse pipeline of future projects, will double over the next decade. TERMS:Approximatelytwomonthassignment,1015hoursperweek.$10/hour.
