On differences in how operations and supply chain managers approach quality management Analysis Differences between supply chain

managers and operation managers emphasis on quality management are determined by conducting surveys in different companies. y Operation management field suggest the emphasis of managers only on the conversion processes where as supply chain field suggest that it is used to increase efficiency of entire system. y Operation managers try to increase quality in the internal operations where as the supply chain managers emphasize on increasing quality in outside operations like procurement, customer satisfaction. y Deming prize and Malcom Baldridge award guides and encourages firms to improve performance of their supply chains and operations. y The core values given by Baldrige that can increase the efficiency of supply chains are visionary leadership, aiming for customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, giving employees their proper rights and appreciating them, flexibility in systems, planning for future success. Conclusion: A web based survey is done which included baldrige core values, seven point likert scale, to find the differences in the quality practices of supply chain managers and operations managers.

The survey showed that supply chain managers use quality tools and quality values more than the operations managers.
