INT. LIBRARY DAY NEWS ANCHOR Police are reporting that a young woman died Friday afternoon shortly after being stabbed repeatedly on a sidewalk in a residential neighborhood in San Diego. A San Diego woman suspected in the slaying was later arrested. Police received a report about 1 p.m. of two people fighting on the sidewalk on East Ninth Street near A Avenue, said National City police Lt. Craig Boegler. Officers found a woman who had been stabbed multiple times. Paramedics performed CPR and took the victim to UCSD Medical Center, where she was dead upon arrival. After authorities withheld the identity of the victim, we can report that 18 year old Justine Brown was stabbed to death in National City. There were witnesses to the attack, homicide squad Sgt. Dennis Leach said. Eighteen year old Antoinette Dokes Hendricks was arrested after investigators went to Home Avenue in San Diego following leads in the case. As police arrived they stopped a vehicle as it was leaving and arrested Hendricks. Two men and another woman in the vehicle were detained for questioning. Boegler said investigators were still trying to determine a motive for the brutal slaying. Police officers stood guard over the scene late into the afternoon, escorting residents to their doors and shooing away passersby who ignored the lines of yellow police barrier tape. Neighbors described the community as a peaceful place with few problems. One resident, Adriana Gomez, 21, said she wondered if it was still safe for her to walk to her classes at the nearby Southwestern College satellite campus. NEWS ANCHOR (contd) Gomez understands National City doesnt always have the best reputation, but she never would expect for anything like this to happen. "Its kinda scary she says. In 2008, National City went a calendar year without tallying a single homicide. This was the second homicide in the city this year.
