Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! We are looking forward to transporting your child as safely and efficiently as possible. Below are some facts about transporting your child that you may find helpful throughout the school year. You may find more information online at the Wake County Public Schools Transportation website (www.wcpss.net/transportation). 3. Some of the criteria when establishing and/or assigning a bus stop are: a. Bus stops are placed no closer than two-tenths of a mile apart unless safety hazards exist. b. Buses are routed on state-maintained roads only. c. Buses are generally prohibited from traveling in to cul-de-sacs. d. Generally, bus stops are placed on corners. e. Recommended walking distances to a bus stop for students: Elementary student three-tenths of a mile; Middle & High student five-tenths of a mile.

4. If you feel your childs bus stop does not meet the above criteria, you may request a bus stop change by completing
the Transportation Service Request Form located at your childs school or on our website (www.wcpss.net/forms/transportation-service-request-form.pdf). Please refer to Wake County Board of Education Policies #7105 and #7125 for further information pertaining to school bus stops and routes. The Transportation Department assigns students to stops.

5. In the interest of safety, we encourage you to be present at your childs bus stop both morning and afternoon. Bus
drivers will not discharge a Kindergarten or 1st Grade student at a stop unless a responsible person is present at the stop.

6. As the new school year approaches and after it has begun, it may become more difficult to speak with a live person
at your transportation district. If you have questions or need assistance, please call as soon as possible. Below is your childs transportation assignment for the 2011 2012 school year. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact your local transportation district office as soon as possible. Arrival times are subject to change. The district office listed below assigns students to bus stops for your school. It may not be the district responsible for servicing your bus route.
