Flexi BTS Mounting Shield Quick Guide

This guide can be used as quick reference for Flexi Mounting Shield (FMSA/FMSB) installations. Flexi Mounting Shield (FMSA/FMSB) is an outdoor shield for a stacked Flexi BTS. Used instead of the plastic front and rear covers, it provides protection against solar load, large insects and slight vandalism. In addition, you need Flexi Mounting Kit Floor/Wall/Pole (FMFA) in all installation cases. Flexi Mounting Shield 6U (FMSA) provides installation space for up to any two Flexi 3U modules and the plinth (6U in total). It is installed on a pole or wall. Flexi Mounting Shield 18U (FMSB) provides installation space for up to any six Flexi 3U modules and the plinth (18U in total). It is installed on the floor.

5 Installing air guide plate

FMSA installations: If there is less than 6U in the configuration, install the air guide plate on the casing of the top or outermost unit in the configuration. 1. Remove the rearmost fixing studs. 2. Install the air guide plate. 3. Fix the fixing studs back in their place.

3 1

FMSB installations: If there is less than 18 U in the configuration, install the air guide plate on top of the topmost module casing. 1. Remove the rearmost fixing studs. 2. Install the air guide plate. 3. Fix the fixing studs back in their place.

TIP: Install the air guide plate to the topmost module before inserting the module into the mounting shield. NOTE: If using a full FSMA/FMSB configuration (18 U), the air guide plate is not needed. NOTE: The appearance of the modules may vary depending on the module type.

6 Principle of lifting the mounting shields

The FMSB can be lifted using the optional lifting handles (WLHA lifting handle kit 469554A).

The FMSA can be lifted by the lifting handle.

NOTE: Do not lift the FMSB mounting shield with the modules inside.

7 Installing FMSA
1. Insert the plinth inside the mounting shield against the right-hand side wall. Guide the rubber pads on the bottom of the plinth into the holes on the mounting shield wall.

3a 1

2. Install the plinth to the mounting shield with the bottommost screws (3 x M8) and washers first, securing them with thread locking compound. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.4 ft-lb).

NOTE: WCDMA modules are shown in the examples

3. Fix the mounting brackets. a) Fix the upper mounting bracket to the mounting shield with four M8 screws and washers, securing them with thread locking compound. b) Install the lower mounting bracket to the mounting shield with 3 x M8 screws and washers, securing them with thread locking compound. Do not tighten the screws yet so that the bracket can be adjusted when installing the mounting shield on the wall or pole. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.4 ft-lb). 4. If there are two modules in the configuration, fix the empty casings to each other to make a stack of two casings.
