Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for recruitment to the posts of Forest
GuardindifferentDivisions/OfficesinOrissaForestDepartmentforfillingupofvacanciesunderdirect
recruitment quota in accordance with the Orissa Subordinate Forest Service (Method of Recruitment
andConditionofServicesofForestGuards)Rules,1998.
Post: ForestGuard
ScaleofPay
:Rs.4440/to7440/withGradepayRs.1650/permonthwithusualD.A.andother
allowancesasadmissible.
Eligibility:
1.He/SheshallbeacitizenofIndia.
2.He/Sheshallbeabletospeak,readandwriteOriyafluentlyandmusthavepassedan
ExaminationinOriyalanguageinM.E.schoolstandard.
3.He/Sheshallhaveagoodcharacter.
4.He/ShemusthavepassedHighSchoolCertificateexamination(10+)fromarecognized
Board/Institution.
5.He/Shemusthaveregisteredhis/hernameinanyEmploymentExchangewithinthe
jurisdictionoftherespectiveappointingauthoritybeforesubmissionoftheapplication.

(1) Minimum18years,upperagelimit32yearsason01.07.2011
(2) The upper age limit shall be relaxable by 5 (five) years in case of Scheduled Tribe,
ScheduledCaste,Women,andSocially&EducationallyBackwardclasscandidates.
(3) PeriodofcontinuousserviceinArmedForcesoftheUnion(notlessthansixmonths)shall
bedeductedfromtheactualagetodeterminetheupperage.
Reservation:
The Orissa Reservation of Vacancies in posts and Services (For Scheduled Castes &
Scheduled Tribes) Act, 1975 and Rules made there under and orders regarding reservation of
posts in services for sports persons, socially and Educationally Backward Classes, ExService
personnelandWomenrespectivelyshallbeapplicabletotheservice.
Providedthat,nophysicallyhandicappedcandidateshallbeeligibletobeappointed
totheservice.

2.ThecandidatesofallcategoriesshallbeexaminedbytheChiefDistrictMedicalOfficer/Chief
Medical Officer of the district to testify that they possess sound health and general physical
fitnessforoutdoorworkinForestDepartment.
3.Thecandidatemustbeofsoundhealth,goodphysiqueandactivehabitsandbefreefrom
anyorganicdefectorbodilyinfirmity.
HowtoApply:
1. Eligible candidates shall apply to the concerned appointing authority in the prescribed
application form on or before 8th September, 2011 during working hours either by registered
postorhand.Theapplicationmustbecorrectlyfilledinandcompleteinallrespect.Incomplete
applicationsandapplicationsincorrectlyfilledinshallberejected.Applicationsreceivedafter8th
September, 2011 shall not be entertained. The concerned authority shall not be held
responsibleforanypostaldelay.
2. Theapplicationshallbesubmittedalongwithattestedphotocopiesofthefollowingdocuments
positively.Ifcopyofanyoneofthefollowingdocumentsisnotenclosedtotheapplication,then
itwillbetreatedasincompleteandliabletoberejected.
a) CopyofH.S.C.(10+)ExaminationCertificatedulyattestedbyanOfficernotbelowtherank
ofGroupB.
b) CopyofMarksheetofH.S.C.(10+)dulyattestedbyanOfficernotbelowtherankofGroup
B.
c) Two Passport size photographs duly attested by an Officer not below the rank of Group
Bandsignedbythecandidateininkonthefront.
d) Copy of Caste Certificate issued by competent Revenue Authority in case of SC/ST/SEBC
candidatesdulyattestedbyanOfficernotbelowtherankofGroupB.
(Caste certificates issued by Tahasildar / Addl. Tahsildar having jurisdiction over the
permanentplaceofresidenceofthecandidateshallonlybeaccepted.)
e) CopyoftheEmploymentExchangeRegistrationCarddulyattestedbyanOfficernotbelow
therankofGroupB.
f) Copy of Sports/athletic Certificate(s) showing representation in interschool
meet/representing in the Circle or District in school meet/ representing in the District in
Junior or Senior interdistrict meet/ representing the State in Junior or Senior National
meet/ representing Nation in international meet and winning medals in any of the above
meets,dulyattestedbyanOfficernotbelowtherankofGroupB.
g) Copy of the required certificate, duly attested by an Officer not below the rank of Group
B,ifclaimingreservationofpostsinservicesforSportsperson.
h) Copy of certificate from the District Sainik Board in case of Exserviceman candidate, duly
attestedbyanOfficernotbelowtherankofGroupB.
i) Fiveselfaddressedandstamped(Rs.25/)envelopeofsize22cmX10cm(Browncolour).
j) Copy of character certificate issued by an Officer not below the rank of GroupBof the
StateGovernment.
IssueofAdmitCardforwrittenTest:
Admit Cards for written test shall be issued by the concerned appointing authority indicating
date, time and venue, to those eligible candidates whose applications are correct and complete in all
respect.Thelistofeligiblecandidatesaskedtoappearatthewrittentestwillalsobedisplayedonthe
notice board in the Office of the concerned appointing authority. The eligible candidates who do not
receive admit card two days prior to the date of written test may contact the concerned appointing
authorityinperson.
WrittenTest:
TheWrittentestwillbeconductedon25thSeptember,2011(Sunday)intwosubjectsi.e.Oriya
Language and Mathematics of ClassIX standard. Each paper will be of one hour duration. Each paper
willcarry25marks.Thequestionpapersofwrittentestshallcontainquestionsbothofsubjectiveand
objectivetypes.Ifanycandidateresortstounfairmeansandimpersonationduringwrittentest,his/her
candidature for the entire process of selection shall be cancelled and he/she shall be debarred from
appearing at future examinations. The names of candidates qualified in the written test shall be
displayedontheNoticeBoardintheOfficeoftheconcernedappointingauthority.
Verificationoforiginalcertificates:
The candidates who qualify in the written test shall be intimated to attend the Office of the
concernedappointingauthorityforverificationoforiginalcertificates.Anycandidatefoundpossessing
invalid/forgedcertificateshallbetreatedasdisqualifiedandshallnotbeallowedtoundergosubsequent
testi.e.physicalstandardtest.Theappointingauthorityshallpreparethescoresheetofthecandidates
whopossessvalid/genuinecertificatesasperrules.
MeasurementofPhysicalStandard:
Theeligiblecandidates,whoqualifyinthewrittentestandwhoseoriginalcertificatesarefound
tobegenuineonverification,shallundergoPhysicalStandardtesti.e.measurementofheight(forboth
maleandfemalecandidates)andchest(onlyformalecandidates).Theexactdate,timeandvenuefor
thepurposeshallbeintimatedtothecandidatesbytheconcernedappointingauthorityandthesame
shallalsobedisplayedonthenoticeboardofhis/herOffice.Thenamesofcandidateswhoqualifyinthe
PhysicalStandardtestshallbeannouncedbytheconcernedappointingauthorityanddisplayedonthe
NoticeBoardofhis/herOffice.Thosecandidates,whoqualifyinthephysicalstandardtest,shallonlybe
allowed to undergo the subsequent test i.e. cycling test. The concerned appointing authority shall
preparescoresheetofthecandidateswhoqualifyinthephysicalstandardtestasperrules.
CyclingTest:
In cycling test, the male candidates are required to cover 1.6km within 3(three) to 5(five)
minutes and females candidates are required to cover 1.6 Kms within 8(eight) to 10(ten) minutes.
Candidates covering the distance in the minimum time prescribed shall be entitled to additional two
marksasperrule.Theexactdate,timeandvenueforthepurposeshallbeintimatedtothecandidates
bytheconcernedappointingauthorityandalsoshallbedisplayedonthenoticeboardofhis/herOffice.
The names of candidates, who qualify in the cycling test, shall be announced by the concerned
appointingauthorityanddisplayedonthenoticeboardofhis/herOffice.Thosecandidates,whoqualify
inthecyclingtest,shallonlybeallowedtoundergothesubsequenttesti.e.walkingtest.Theconcerned
appointingauthorityshallpreparescoresheetofthecandidateswhoqualifyinthecyclingtestasper
rules.
WalkingTest:
InWalkingTest,themalecandidatesarerequiredtocover25(twentyfive)kmsandthewomen
candidates are required to cover 16(sixteen) kms within 4(four) hours. The candidates who cover the
distancewithinaperiodof3(three)hoursor3.30(threeandhalf)hourswillbeentitledforextramarks
as per rules. The exact date, time and venue for the purpose shall be intimated by the appointing
authority to the candidates and also shall be displayed on the notice board of his/her Office. The
appointing authority shall announce the names of the candidates who qualify in the walking test and
displaythesameonthenoticeboardofhis/herOffice.Theappointingauthorityshallalsopreparethe
scoresheetofthecandidateswhoqualifyinthewalkingtestasperrules.Thecandidates,whoqualify
inthewalkingtest,shallonlybeallowedtoundergothesubsequenttesti.e.MedicalTest.
MedicalTest:
Theeligiblecandidates,whoqualifyinthewrittentest,physicalstandardtest,cyclingtestand
walkingtestshallbeexaminedbytheChiefDistrictMedicalOfficer/ChiefmedicalOfficerofthedistrict
to testify that they possess sound health and general physical fitness for outdoor work in Forest
Department.Theconcernedcandidatesshallbeintimatedabouttheexactdate,timeandvenueforthe
purpose by the appointing authority depending on the programme intimated by the Chief District
Medical Officer/Chief Medical Officer of the district to the former. The names of the candidates, who
qualify in the medical test, shall be announced by the appointing authority and displayed on his/her
noticeboard.
VivaVoce:
The eligible Candidates, who qualify in all the above tests such as written test, verification of
certificates,physicalstandardtest,cyclingtest,walkingtest,andmedicaltest,shallappearattheviva
vocetesttobeconductedbytheSelectionBoard.Theconcernedcandidatesshallbeintimatedabout
theexactdate,timeandvenueforthepurposebytheconcernedappointingauthority.
SelectList:
The Selection Board shall prepare a list of candidates in order of merit on the basis of total
markssecuredinWrittenTest,performanceinHighSchoolCertificateExamination(10+),achievement
insportsandathletics,PhysicalStandardtest,CyclingTest,WalkingTestandvivavoce.Thereafter,the
Selection Board shall prepare a list of successful candidates equal to the number of vacancies under
each category. This list after being approved by the appointing authority shall be the Select list of
candidates for appointment against the vacancies in the grade of Forest Guards under direct
recruitmentquotaandthesaidlistshallbeannouncedbytheconcernedappointingauthority.
Theselectedcandidatesshallundergonecessarytrainingforaperiodofsixmonthsinanyofthe
Forest Guards Training School in Orissa on stipend to be decided by Government. The selected
candidatesshallexecuteabondbeforejoiningtraining.Onsuccessfulcompletionoftraining,theywill
beappointedtemporarilyinthepostofForestGuardforaprobationperiodofoneyear.Onsuccessful
completionofbothtrainingandprobationperiod,theywillbeconfirmedinthepostofForestGuard.
