Demonstration/Protest Scheduled for Monday, September 12, 2011 in Stuttgart

On Monday, 12 September 2011, from 1800 until 1901 hours, the Bndnis gegen Stuttgart 21 (an alliance of various German citizen initiatives against Stuttgart 21) will conduct a demonstration at Arnulf-Klett-Platz in front of the Hauptbahnhof (Main Train Station), in 70173 Stuttgart, Germany. The demonstration will consist of speeches and music performances. Additionally, as part of this demonstration, approximately 50 bicyclists will ride from Feuersee, located at Feuerseeplatz, in 70176 Stuttgart, leaving there at 1745 hours and arriving at 1800 hours at Arnulf-KlettPlatz to join in the main demonstration. The demonstration will end with a march from Arnulf-Klett-Platz to Schlossplatz, where a one minute Schwabenstreich (approximately translated as Tomfoolery or making big noise) will take place from 1900 hours to 1901 hours. The purpose of the demonstration is to protest against the construction of a new Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof. Approximately 3,000 - 5,000 people are expected to participate. This demonstration has been properly registered with German authorities.
