Cell Phone Design Brief

Objectives
• Use reverse engineering to digitally detail an electronic device.
Problem Statement
Cell phones are everywhere. In an effort to better appreciate their design you will be reverse engineering the
external features in PowerPoint. Detail is extremely important.

Constraints
• Everyone must make their own
• Don’t use your cell phone!
• Name your project with no spaces, camel casing, and the following information:
 Period
 Last name
 First name
 “CellPhoneDesign”
 Example: 4SmithSamCellPhoneDesign

• Understand bitmap & vector graphics
• Cover power point drawing toolbar
 Toolbar manipulation basics
 Detaching submenus
 Grid & snap
 Grouping
 Ordering

• Computer with PowerPoint
• Movie: Paycheck PG-13

• Cell Phone
Timeline, Approximate
• Day 1: Introduction to drawing toolbar
• Day 2: Cover design brief
• Start lab
• Day 3: Lab
• Day 4: Lab Done
Needs of the Problem
• Details!!! Your cell phone copy should be extremely accurate.
• 10 points if you can’t tell the difference between the two
• 9 points if some minor details are missing
• 8-5 points if an effort to capture the details was made
• 4-1 points if the student didn’t try
• 0 if the project was not turned in
