The 100th Day of First Grade is February 9th, 2009!

Dear Parents, The 100th Day of School is fast approaching! Wow! We have been learning lots of different math throughout these 100 days- addition, subtraction, counting by 2s, 5s and 10s, adding by counting on, using doubles, making 10s and counting to 100! (Just to name a few.) We will be applying these math skills to a home project to celebrate our 100th day of school! Your child will use LIGHT items, such as cheerios, cotton balls, stickers, written words, etc to fill the 100 paper attached to show 100 items. This 100 paper will be displayed on their locker. Their very own Locker Sign. (Locker Sign Paper is attached.) An added benefit to this project is the opportunity for families to reinforce skills learned in the classroom. You will also view which strategies your child uses to sort and count their 100 items that you and your child will select together. Have fun selecting an imaginative and LIGHT item that your child will use 100 of to decorate their 100 paper attached. Please make sure the items are securely glued/taped on! Projects may be sent to school NO EARLIER THAN WEDNESDAY, FEB. 4th. Have fun and enjoy the opportunity to share in your childs learning experience. The displays are well worth the effort and are a terrific way for students to stretch their thinking! As always, thank you for your continued support! Thank you, Mrs. Goff
