Introduction
What is a Backing Device?
Backing storage devices are where you can store data permanently. The hardware that stores the data are called backing storage media.

The data stored on backing storage media can either accessed randomly or sequentially.

A disk storage medium composed of a disk of thin and

flexible magnetic storage medium, sealed in a rectangular plastic carrier lined with fabric that removes dust particles. A typical 5.25 inch floppy disk can hold 360kb or 1.2mb 3.5inch floppies can store 760kb, 1.2mb or 1.44 mb of data.

Hard Disk
Hard disks are built into computer systems. It can store anywhere from 20 MBto more than 200GB. Hard Disk are 10 to 100 times faster than floppy disks.
