    Dr Bahar Davary is currently an associate professor at the Department of Theology and Religious Studies, University of San Diego, California. She obtained her PhD from the Catholic University of America (2001) with a dissertation on the image of woman in commentaries on the Qur'an: a study of its formation in language. She specialises in Quranic commentary, Islam and gender, and comparative religion. Her publications include a book titled "Women and the Qur'an: A Study in Islamic Hermeneutics" (2009).
