EMERGENCY FIRST AID CHECKLIST This list describes your priorities in an emergency situation.

Follow these steps: Evaluate the scene to protect yourself and others from injury or danger. Calm, cool and collected: Am I prepared? Do not move the person unless he or she is in imminent danger or unless you cannot provide assistance without moving the person. What kinds of hazards are around? (Fire, wire, gas, glass, drugs, thugs, bugs, weather, other dangers, infections) Get help. Call out for someone to phone 911 or, if the person does not need immediate assistance, make the call yourself. Send for a defibrilator. Use gloves and/or mouth guard if available. A) Clear the airway. Tilt the head back to help open the throat. If the situation is a choking

emergency, perform the Heimlich maneuver. B) Look, listen, and feel for breathing. CPR is performed at 100 B.P.M., for 30 compressions and two breaths, continue doing until the patient breaths on his own, you are relieved, or you cant go on. If automatic defibrilator is available, use as directed and ensure no-one is touching patient when machine shocks them. C) Control any bleeding with direct pressure. Treat for shock. If the person is unconscious, move him or her into the recovery position unless injuries preclude this, then cover and keep warm. Secondaries: Check head to toes then arms. Vitals: Pupil check, Breathing and Pulse S.A.M.P.L.E.: Signs & S ymptoms * Allergies * Medications * Past Medical History * L ast Pee/Poo, Meal * Events leading up to it.
