All living things are composed of cells, such as taking in nutrients, expelling waste, and reproducing. Cells carry out thousands of biochemical reactions each minute and reproduce new cells that perpetuate life. Most cells, both animal and plant, range in size between 1 and 100 micrometers.

GILL (LUDHIANA) What is Cell ? Cell (biology), basic unit of life. Cells are the smallest structures capable of basic life processes, such as taking in nutrients, expelling waste, and reproducing. All living things are composed of cells. Some microscopic organisms, such as bacteria and protozoa, are unicellular, meaning they consist of a single cell. Plants, animals, and fungi are multicellular; that is, they are composed of a great many cells working in concert. But whether it makes up an entire bacterium or is just one of trillions in a human being, the cell is a marvel of design and efficiency. Cells carry out thousands of biochemical reactions each minute and reproduce new cells that perpetuate life. Structure Of Cell Cells fall into one of two categories 1.Prokaryotic-In a prokaryotic cell, found only in bacteria and archaebacteria, all the components, including the DNA, mingle freely in the cell’s interior, a single compartment 2.Eukaryotic - which make up plants, animals, fungi, and all other life forms, contain numerous compartments, or organelles, within each cell. Plant Cell Structure Plants are unique among the eukaryotes, organisms whose cells have membrane-enclosed nuclei and organelles, because they can manufacture their own food. Chlorophyll, which gives plants their green color, enables them to use sunlight to convert water and carbon dioxide into sugars and carbohydrates, chemicals the cell uses for fuel. Animal Cell Structure
Animal cells are typical of
the eukaryotic cell, enclosed by a plasma membrane and containing a membrane- bound nucleus and organelles. Unlike the eukaryotic cells of plants and fungi, animal cells do not have a cell wall. This feature was lost in the distant past by the single- celled organisms that gave rise to the kingdom Animalia. Most cells, both animal and plant, range in size between 1 and 100 micrometers and are thus visible only with the aid of a microscope. Acknowledgement & Resources
