Volume 3, Issue 8 October 7, 2011 Parent Teacher Conferences Thank you all for signing up for our Parent Teacher Conferences on October 18 and 20. Please look for a reminder on your time coming home next week. I look forward to discussing your childs progress with you. Picture Retakes Picture retakes are on October 12. Please remember to send in the old pictures for a new order. Coats for Kids Please bring in coats to donate for our Coats for Kids Drive. All sizes are welcome and appreciated. Our drive continues from October 3-31. Thanks for all you do. Reading to Learn In third and fourth grade, students continue to learn to read, but the focus now changes to reading to learn. As the year continues, students will continue using their good reader skills. Many parents have asked, How can I help my child become a better reader at home? On our class Blog under the Parent Link, I have placed a picture of what we, as a fourth grade team, will be teaching our students to practice and do AS they read. I encourage students to continue this in a reading journal at home or through discussion with a brother or sister. Talking and thinking about reading is so helpful.
