Objectives : Students should be able to: 1. read the given text using correct pronunciation. 2. give similar meaning to the 5 chosen words. 3. give opposite meaning to the 5 chosen words. Teaching aids : Pictures of famous sportswomen. CD Issues in English Activities. : Set Induction 1. Teacher shows pictures of famous sportswomen. ( Shalin Zulkifli, Nicol David, Pandelela etc) 2. Teacher seeks information about them. (Names, sports, their achievements, etc) Pre-reading 1. Teacher shows video of a sportswoman in action. 2. Teacher and students discuss on what they have watched in the video. While reading 1. Teacher shows the reading text on the screen. 2. Students read the text silently.( text in Issues in English software) 3. Students listen to the text to expose them to the correct pronunciation and intonation. 4. Students read the text aloud.

5. Using a dictionary, students find the meanings of the difficult words in the interactive software. 6. Students do the interactive exercise on the opposite meaning of words. 7. Students answer comprehension questions. Post reading 1. Students complete a crossword puzzle on famous sportsmen and sportswomen. Closure Students read aloud the antonyms and synonyms which they have learnt in this lesson.
