BANLAW FILLSAFE™ ELECTRONIC

ZERO TANK PRESSURE REFUELLING SYSTEM

General Operating Instructions

Following is the generic operating procedure for the Banlaw FillSafe Electronic
system:

1. Connect the refuelling nozzle to the fill point fuel receiver.

2. Visually inspect the front membrane of the FillSafe ZP2 unit to ensure the RED
“power” LED is lit. If not, power has been cut to the FillSafe system. Refer to “IN
THE EVENT OF A FAULT” below.
3. Inspect the status of the GREEN LED on the membrane. If lit, the tank
requires fuel – proceed to step 4. If off, tank is full – disconnect refuelling nozzle.
4. Press “FILL” button on ZP2 unit to prepare system for refuelling. The GREEN
LED should now start to flash indicating the control valve is opening.
5. Start refuelling pump and open refuelling nozzle to commence refuelling.
6. Once “full” level in tank has been reached, the GREEN LED will extinguish and
the fill point control valve will close a short time later during which time the
refuelling nozzle will shut-off automatically. There is no need to reopen the
nozzle.
7. The nozzle can now be disconnected. Refuelling is complete.

IN THE EVENT OF A FAULT:

a) contact your shift supervisor to notify them of the fault and to arrange for
repair. If the problem cannot be immediately overcome, proceed to the next step
to refuel the tank.
b) if possible, electrically isolate the FillSafe system. Manually open the fill point
control valve using its manual override mechanism. Connect nozzle and refuel
loco. Once filled, the standard Banlaw “quick-fill” system will temporarily
pressurise the tank to trigger the nozzle to close.
c) promptly notify Banlaw of the fault to arrange for repair.
