KUNDIMAN COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION: Mr.

Lonely The kundiman communications Corporation (KCC) is a local company with more than 2,000 persons in its payroll. The compoanys top management is composed of the President,Vice President for Marketing,the Vice President for Operations,and the Vice President for Administration. A member of the staff,Engineer Lorenzo de Guzman,an electronics engineering graduate,has just received an order from his immediate superior, the Vp for Operations, to head the newly built telecommunication facility in Antipolo,Rizal. So far, he is the only company personell identified with the new facilty. He was given three months to make the facilty operational. Engineer de Guzman appraised that for the Antoplo unit to operate, it will require the services of a number opf persons skilled in the various activities that will be undertaken. As he has been working with the KCC for ten years ( Five years in the field and five years in the head office),Engineer de Guzman is familiar with many aspects of the firms operation. Some of the supervisors ands three of the key officers are his fiends. Engineer de Guzman felt that the various trainings KCC provided him had really prepared him well for the technical aspects of his new job. His exposure to the different units of his new job. His exposure to the different units at the head office will also be useful in some ways to the administrative aspects of his position. However,his trainings and experienceshave not provided him with the expertise to recruit qualified persons to occupy the various positions that will be created. To begin with, he does not even have information on the number and nature of the positions to be created. As he was inspecting the building in Antipolo where he will hold office, Engineer de Guzman wondered if he could convince top management to transfer some of his acquaintances in the head office to his new assignment. Engineer de Guzman knows that his next promotion will depend much in the success of the new facilty under his direction. He thought that if he could only get the right persons, his job would not be too difficult. With this in mind, he pondered on what his first move must be.

Statement of the problem Engineer de guzman was given a chance to head the ewly built telecomuunication facilty however his trainings and experiences have n ot provided him with the expertise to recruite qualified persons to occupy the various positions that will be created or the concern of putting the appropriate persons to be assigned or the process of staffing,his promotion depends on his success to direct the new facilty.

STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES MUST

Because of the importance of staffing,an assigned person to direct in a certain area should provide the iminformation on the number and nature of the positions. One way of ensuring this participation is to create a committee of functional area representativesn to help him in undertaking to match people with jobs to be facilitated. WANT Engineer de Guzman want to convince top management to transfer some of his acquaintances in the head office to his new assignment since some of of them are his friend. II.ANALYSIS OF THE CASE Since his professionalism is not suit for the staffing method and only three months was given to direct the opration,if the top mangemnt agree to transfer some of his acquaintances from the head office to his new assignment,they can help him or give him an advice to recruit qualified persons.He must also practice the following series of steps specially human resource planning,recruitment and proper selection and through this his friend can aid him. The Vice President for operations assigned it to him because of his educational attainment as an electronics Engineer. His various trainings from the KCC provided him well for the technical aspects of his new job and his exposure to the different units will also be useful in some ways to the administrative aspects of his new position thus it may be an asset for him to know the positions needed for the facility. One of the best way for selecting the right persons is to start choosing the organizations current employees for the reason that thay are already selected but the layout of the human resource plabbing should comes first. He can also try toask for recruitment firms in recruiting qualified persons.

III.CONCLUSIONS As he given a short period to make the operation that ordered to him ,there should be a reinforcement strategy which should be meaningful enough to fulfill his goal. Training may not be sufficient because of the limited time given so his idea to encourage his acquaintaces ion the head office is useful for the reason that the better we know the person,the better we are able to identify the motive so that coaching or advice from his senior will guide his plan.As long that he applied the three human resource activities such as forecasting ,programming evaluation and control the nearer the success will be.
