BALOG-BALOG MULTIPURPOSE PROJECT: PHASE II

A. PROJECT BRIEF DESCRIPTION BBMP Phase II involves the following components: (1) construction of the Balog-Balog High Dam and reservoir with storage capacity of 625 MCM for irrigation, power generation, flood control, and inland fish production purposes, (2) construction of a hydro-power plant with installed capacity of 33 MW, (3) rehabilitation and improvement of irrigation canals covering 14,300 hectares in the Mt. Pinatubo-damaged Tarlac-San Miguel-ODonnell River Irrigation System (TASMORIS), and (4) construction of new irrigation canals, facilities and structures in various municipalities and city of Tarlac to irrigate additional 24,850 hectares of agricultural land. The Project also requires the development of a sound resettlement program for the affected families. It also involves the mobilization of the irrigators associations for the efficient operation and maintenance of the irrigation system.
