EXTINCTION

I didn’t do it, it wasn’t my fault

Don’t blame me, don’t take me court
I didn’t slaughter those wretched beasts
To load my table with a tasty feast

Tasmanian Tiger Wolf alone in the zoo

Pacing its cage with nothing to do
Just twenty-five cents the hunters were paid
For each wolf they killed – big money they made…

I didn’t do it, it wasn’t my fault

Don’t blame me, don’t take me court
I didn’t slaughter those wretched beasts
To load my table with a tasty feast

The Passenger Pigeon of the USA

Gathered in flocks of fifty million they say
Most numerous bird in the history of Earth
By deforestation and hunting was cursed

I didn’t do it, it wasn’t my fault

Don’t blame me, don’t take me court
I didn’t slaughter those wretched beasts
To load my table with a tasty feast

The innocent Dodo never ran away

When sailors and dogs and rats came to stay
This pigeon as big as a goose could not fly
For lunch and for dinner those poor Dodos died

I didn’t do it, it wasn’t my fault

Don’t blame me, don’t take me court
I didn’t slaughter those wretched beasts
To load my table with a ta….sty… feast…….
