Frontal Rain / Cyclonic Rain

Mass of warm air meets a mass of colder air.

Lighter warm air rises over heavier cold air. Warm air cools Condensation Clouds form Rain

How is the CYLONIC RAIN forms ???

Cyclonic or Frontal precipitation results when the leading edge of a warm, moist air mass meets a cool and dry air mass. The molecules in the cold air are more tightly packed together.

The cold air is heavier than the warm air.

AFFECT OF CYCLONIC PRECIPITATION

A large cyclonic storm occur when a warm air mass and a cold air mass collide.
The tornados form when mid-latitude where warmer air is displaced along fronts between air masses .

The figure illustrates the patterns of wind flow, surface pressure, fronts, and zones of precipitation associated with cyclonic precipitation in the Northern Hemisphere :

Around the low pressure (L), winds blow counterclockwise and inwards.

NOTE: the direction of air flow would be in the opposite direction in the Southern Hemisphere (clockwise but still inward).
