Computed tomography (CT) is a nondestructive testing technique that produces 2D and 3D cross-sectional images of an object using x-ray images. Characteristics like dimensions, shape, defects, and density can be seen in CT images. A CT system places the test component on a turntable between an x-ray source and imaging system. Images are correlated to the component's position and specialized software produces cross-sectional images, as if the component was sliced.
